Maybe fire Housley at the end of this disaster season and promote Chris Taylor and about 5 Amerks. He seems to have a winning touch.
this honestly doesnt sound too bad to me

good cow. i just got around to logging in to see how things are going and i see this. glad i didnt miss much

What's lehners sv% compared to league average?
tied for 22 of 32 with people that have at least 20 starts
http://www.quanthockey.com/nhl/seasons/2017-18-nhl-goalies-stats.html
he is 27 of 32 for GAA with at least 20 starts.
so i was wrong, he isnt the worst goalie in the league. there are a couple that are a little worse.
also, those stats just show a small portion. i still stand behind my statement that he wont stop most shots that isnt hit directly at him

Per Phil Housley, maintenance day for Kyle Okposo today. Nathan Beaulieu and Jacob Josefson skated on their own today. #Sabres Per Bill Hoppe
beaulieu is single handily good for at least 1 turnover resulting in an opponent goalie per game or two. he is either really, really bad or just not playing. :flirt:

Until we get a competent blue line group, we won’t ever be satisfied with our goaltending. We don’t score, we play in our own end 65% of the game, our D don’t clear the goal crease, our D don’t get the puck efficiently out of our zone and our forwards stink at back checking. Somehow this is Lehner’s fault?
No one would look good playing behind this D group.
Y’all might not love Lehner, but I suspect Jbot will try to keep him if he’ll accept another year at $4mill. If he’ll move him by the deadline or more likely over the summer if he can get his price.
Rationale: Letting Ullmark backup Lehner to the tune of 35 games would give Ullmark a season to get fully used to the NHL. It would also give Jbot the opportunity to lock him at a top backup prices rather then starter prices when his deal ends after next season.
i think you are thinking a bulk of the people ONLY blame lehner. I think most people here know our entire team is pretty horrible, except a couple of guys.
yes, i agree the defense is horrible, but lehner is a very below average tender. i honestly, honestly think that if this team had ullmark for this entire season that the sabres would have 18 to 20 wins at this point.
yes the defense stinks, the scoring is bad too, but lehner is probably the worst everyday starting goaltender in the league. i truly believe that.

he doesnt track the puck well,
he doesnt move side to side well,
he doesnt protect glove side well,
he doesnt protect blocker side well,
he doesnt cover the posts tightly (well),
he doesnt protect shoot outs well,
he doesnt protect break-aways well,
he doesnt protect pucks not shot directly at him well,
he doesnt prevent soft goals well,
he doesnt read passes well
i am very much looking forward to him being another teams problem. I really believe he will not be a starter in the NHL again after this year and within 3 years will be out of the NHL completely

Pretty sure that "one stop" was the shooter missing the net.
it hit the post. i remember specifically because lehner corrected the media when they say he made the stop. He corrected them in saying he didnt, it hit the post.
He has only had 1 shoot out because every other time they went to OT, he gave up an goal
i think its pretty fair to say 90% of the team's defense is bad. 99% of the goaltending is horrible (the 1% that is not bad is linus on the amerks).
it is hard to win when you give up 3 or 4 goals. yet day in and day out, lehner and the defense put them in that position
-
i predict this is lehner's last season as an nhl starter. i also predict he is out of the league within 3 years
-
you owe no loyalty to any team. especially one that constantly disappoints. root for who you want

i have started to follow the wild. i still follow the sabres, but i watch the wild if they are playing i watch them. between the tank season and the better part of the first half of this season with the sabres looking like they dont care about the game, that was it for me.
hockey is my favorite sport, and i was getting to the point that i didnt want to watch the games anymore once that happened i knew i needed to switch.
i will always love the sabres, but i will not pay to see them anymore.

saw this trade on mapleleafs.com. its seems the mapleleafs didnt want to give up this much
lehner, johnson, and bogosion for a 6.43 canadian dollar gift card to tim hortons and a greyhound bus ticket for each of the 3 guys.

Olofsson - Eichel - Okposo
Zemgus - ROR - Pommers
CJ Smith - Mittelstadt - Reinhart
This is really simple
Mittlestadt,eichel, okposo
ROR,Mittlestadt,Pominville
zemgus,Reinhart,mittlestadt
our savior, jedi master and sith lord, darth mittlestadt plays 60 minutes a game at 3 different positions. on days when linus needs a day off, mittlestadt hops in goal when in the sabres zone.
it so simple, yet so beautiful
btw, i hear rumors that the puck just appears on his stick with a look and a smile

Other than a great first, we didn’t play much different than most games this past month.
Having some exciting new players rekindles the feeble embers of optimism and winning changes our perspective on everything.
Watching Guhle skate is exciting and my God is Linus easy to root for.
Reminded me of when Ennis and Foligno first came up.
Hope the story ends better than that.
you are probably right with this, the biggest difference is that the sabres had a goalie that actually isnt complete garbage to keep them in the game
-
awesome game. the first 2 periods were by far the best of the season. the third was pretty good too. i really hope guhle and ullmark are up for good. i really do
-
this is ullmark tonight
-
man i really wanted ullmark to get a shutout
-
that video is so funny.
-
Ullmark is getting paid $700k whether he's in the A or the NHL. He knows he will be in the NHL next year. Maybe he wants to ride out a championship team in Rochester? There is something to be said to be on a winning team.
i wasnt talking about the pay. i meant just a chance to play in the bigs everyday is nearly every child's dream
-
I hear ya Fettman. But why ruin Rochester just to win a few more games for this trainwreck of a season?
i would be willing to bet ullmark would prefer to play in buffalo in a trainwreck season over playing in the minors.
-
i love it
No penalties called.
well, they know we want to get out of here
-
win or lose. this is by far the best game the sabres have played this season. without a doubt. ullmark better not be sent down anymore. they need to release johnson and make lehner the backup tomorrow
-
If Lehner had faced that shot in that location, he'd have been on his knees, shoulders hunched, arms at sides, eyes closed, and it would have went in.
Ullmark may never be the answer, but it's nice to see that he makes saves as opposed to strategically getting in the way.
Beaulieu is easily my least favorite Sabre so I looked this up, for what it's worth.
With Beaulieu playing, we've won 4 of 27 games. With Beaulieu out of the lineup, we've won 6 of 12.
4-20-7 versus 6-4-2.
as much as i dislike lehner, beauliu is by far the worst player on the team (that plays consistently)
-
i would love to see lehner make a save like that. it would be 3-1 columbus if lehner was playing
-
sweet lord ullmark is playing
smell you later lehner.

this poor effort is on the players not the coach. its easy to blame the coach. he is not the one on the ice. he is not the one quitting 10 minutes into the game because they are down 2-0
this team has the biggest group of winey winers i have ever seen
