There's a lot of data out there that points to being supportive and positive ends with better results than being a hard ass. Motivating out of fear usually doesn't work for long.

I have 21 games on my half season ticket and i went to 2. With no interest of going to any more, I'll take another bath selling them all....good times. See ya next year folks unless the miraculous turnaround takes place...yeah
I think I'm done next year with my 200 level season tix. This franchise is just sad.

Ok. So every single player on the team sucks.
What’s the next step? Trade everyone? I’m honestly curious what you propose.Curt I am not sure what to do. I guess I'm just saying no one is untradeable on this team. Obviously for 9 or 26 it would have to be a trade that blows you away.
I also think the gm's have been incompetent for years and years now.

You certainly aren’t describing me ?
anyway ... I would be behind trading Olofsson and ERod if it meant an upgrade. Even slightly. But I think a little more fuel to that fire is what’s needed to grab someone of worth.
Zam, Simpson's post was hilarious. Thanks for the s@#t talking this morning. This team is just so frustrating and I see no end in sight.
I dont necessarily want to get rid of Sam but we have no trade chips really. VO and Erod are assets in a trade but what can they bring back? I think you have to add a big piece to get what we need. Dont think Risto is considered big piece anymore.

Ah, so you've bought into the narrative.
Yes I have bought into the narrative that this organization is so inept that it can alienate its players

That was a bad trade
I agree but he was bad for the team and the locker room

Couple points:
1) +/- is really a mix between a team stat and individual player stat. For any player it’s going to be heavily influenced by the team they play on.
2) +/- is not a defensive stat any more than it is an offensive stat.
3) If you take the view that Reinhart is not defensively responsible because his +/- is negative, then you are also taking the view that Buffalo has had zero defensively responsible players over the last few years, because they all have negative +/-. This includes even ROR.
Ok, ROR sucked when he was here just like the rest of the team

According to everyone. +/- is like saying the world is flat
Did fine for the first 100 years of hockey until people decided to go math professors for hockey advice.

Plus minus doesn't mean anything.
According to you. Thank you for telling me how to think. Keep those rose colored glasses on.
6 minutes ago, Zamboni said:Ok. With that kind of thinking ... who is our core? Every team has a core. Teams build around core players.
(Pro tip: The answer is not “Sabres don’t have a core”)That's the problem they dont have a core.
Pro tip: just because you have a lot of post does not mean you know what your talking about

I know it's not an end all be all stat, especially for the guys who watch hockey through math, but -57 for your career is not defensively responsible

To me this quote as a whole reads as if, while Botterill is certainly keeping in on the discussions, Botterill sees additions going forward this summer as unpredictable rather than the goal, and therefore may be comfortable with the roster as currently constructed. Certainly a ways away from "roster surgery". How do we feel with this line-up headed into next season, if that does indeed play out:
Skinner - Eichel - Vesey
Olofsson - Mittelstadt - Reinhart
Sheary - Rodrigues - Okposo
Girgensons - Larsson - Thompson
Dahlin - Miller
McCabe - Montour
Scandella - Ristolainen
Thoughts?

Things seem to be looking up. Still some big questions though. The goaltending is still a problem. The defensive zone coverage needs a lot of work. Also the PP and PK are atrocious. This team has too much offensive talent to stink on PP. PK is ranked 29, enough sd.
If they can stay in playoff race for rest of year that will be a positive
