6k signed this off season for 3-4 years at AAV of $3.5-4 million.
Levi to be starter with Amerks, give him one full season in AHL.
Bring in backup in either Lankinen, Kahkonen, DeSmith, Wedgewood, Stolarz, or Jones for 1 year.

Biggest reason you give up that much is because he is signed for 3 more years after this years at a very team friendly AAV of $4.3 million.

Sabres rattle off four in a row by beating MTL and CBJ on the road to get fans believing again before losing three in a row to CAR, FLA, and TBL!
It's just what this team does.

UPL should get 2 year extension in the $2.75 million range. Give him another 2 years to see what he candors in the long run. Have Levi in Rochelles the rest of this yearend all of next year. Bring in a guy like DeSmith to be the back up for one year. Revaluate the goalies after the 24-25 season.

Zach MacEwen just placed on waivers by Sens...he likes to goto the net and hit anything on skates. He is the type of player needed on this team to play 10-12 minutes on the 4th line and be able to stand up for young guys when other teams start running around

As I have spent the past few weeks scrolling through cap friendly and watching a few other teams play, I am still trying to pinpoint who the Sabres should be targeting for 4th line next year and a top 4 RD.
I like all 3 guys on Vancouver 4th line and all are UFA's...Joshua, Blueger, and Lafferty
DeMello or Dillion still my choice for defenseman

My thoughts exactly...so a high stick is only if it above your waist. So if a player is down on the ice to block a shot, you can just whack him across the face?? You still have to be in control of your stick..blatant penalty that goes uncalled against the Sabres...I don't care if the PP has been horrible, you still have total that penalty.

What specific players do you want to see buffalo bring in?
Crouse has been on my list for two years now...
Need a guy like Hathaway but lost that opportunity when he went to Philly last year.
Jeannot is another guy I like but glad it was Tampa who way overpaid in that trade.

Thompson, Savoi and conditional pick for Draisaitl? Would need to extend Draisaitl for about $12 million AAV.

Whether through trade or free agency name a few players the Sabres should be targeting? Who is the type of player that this team needs to make the next step and get into the playoffs? With the abundance of top prospects and picks I don't even care if there is an overpayment in a trade. The culture needs to be changed around the locker room.
forwards- Blake Coleman, Tomas Hertl, Lawson Crouse
defense- Rasmus Anderson or MacKenzie Weeger, Thomas Harley, Gustav Forsling, Justin Faulk, Brendan Dillon, Dylan Demelo
goalie- Saros, Gibson

I would moving on from Ganato in the off-season. Try to bring Peca in as head coach. Great motivator and willing to show passion and desire to win. Surround him with experienced assistants who know hoot coach.
Also make a shake up type of move to show players they have to play hard every night. Move Mule, Cozens, or Joker. Need a couple of grinders for the 4th line that can show the young guys it takes max effort every night, every shift.

The worst trade the Sabres made in recent history was trading McNabb and 2 2nd rd picks for Fasching and Deslauriers. Fasching never made the Sabres, Deslauriers was a briefly useful 4th line player and all McNabb has done is be a steady stay-at-home D for the last decade who is having a breakout offensive year this season. Also one of the 2 2nd rd picks became Eric Cernak. All Cernak has done is become a steady physical stay-at-home D for TB getting top 4 minutes. Well done TM.
I saw that one and almost mentioned it. Imagine having two stay at home physical defenseman like Cernak and McNabb on this current team instead of Joker and EJ.

He plays a feisty game and is always moving...I really think you can get a bigger, stronger, player that can play the same game more effective.
