I have a side theory that Pegula is intentionally running the team into the ground so he can justify selling the Sabres to a buyer who would move them out of town.
I have a side theory that Pegula is clueless how to run a hockey team and persistently hires the wrong GM.

Unfortunately I’m now there… the house has to be cleaned again. I don’t want to see a single person back next year. If Terry had a brain he’d name Gallant the coach tomorrow morning.

Nobody will be fired. Nobody will be benched. Nobody will be traded. The beat goes on in the do nothing management.

This team is horrifically bad. No accountability.

Our offense is just a juggernaut right now. 🤪

Embarrassing, inept, useless, terrible… what best describes the power play?
-
This team has no concept how to generate high scoring chances. Other teams just let them pass around the perimeter, keep the lanes clear, and let the goalie take easy point shots, wait until a bounce or bad pass, and counterattack immediately.

This is a carbon copy of the Dallas game. We get tons of possession but nothing overly scary.

They get a power play goal… our two power plays are inept. There is the season right there.

Putting their back up against us. No fear of the Sabres.

This matches the eye test.
The Stars are an experienced team, they know how to score in his league (traffic, secondary chances).
On the otherhand, the Sabres young stars still believe they can snipe unscreened goalies from everywhere on the ice.
Sure they put up 50 shots, but 95% of them are easy saves at this level.
They'd score more goals by passing up those low percentage shots and instead look for ways to get more pucks and bodies to the high danger area.
I had said that earlier just by the eye test. Good to see data back that up. It was not as dominating and one sided as many are saying.

Harrington highlighted as much in his BN column this morning…
And he called out the players and not Granato…
No pride… No compete… No team commitment to winning…
Nothing will change without a change of leadership…
If Pegula refuses to ante up for a new GM and Coach, then KA needs a major roster reset…
Put the word out… Veteran core players and prospects are available in trades for the right pieces in return.
Shake the bottle, Adams… Your approach has failed… Time to act like a GM.
Trade.
This season is now into “disaster” territory. No way we should be a bottom 5-6 team.

This franchise is a nightmare that never ends. Outside of a few seasons from the 80’s on, historically we’ve been a below average franchise devoid of superstars for a long time. We are the NYJets of hockey.

Their goalie played good positioning. There didn’t seem to be a ton of dangerous shots, people in front of the net, or bang bang plays. It’s not like he was making 6 highlight reel saves. There is a difference between just getting shots and being creative or crashing the net… the kind of plays needed to beat him.

Period Three and Final: Moral Victory. I didn’t expect us to win but at least we kept it close and outshot them. Losers find ways to lose though.

And here we go…At least I have the 25th anniversary of Sopranos ready and waiting if this turns into a shellacking.

Bean went all in a few years back. Can’t blame him for rolling the dice and spending on some of these players, but it didn’t work out. KC is just better. Now what can he do? Not much this year other than hope we hit on picks. We now have to get younger and hope the new guys click. We are probably still a top 3-4 team in the AFC but unfortunately there is a super team in our way and they are not going anywhere….and we may never get there.

No team should ever be more than 2 seasons away from competing. Anything else is sheer incompetence.
Yet here we are for 13 years now with no end in sight.

Not at all. And I watch most of the games. It actually made me reflect how boring it is watching such a dysfunctional organization. That’s really sad.

The Stars are really good. I can’t imagine this will be watchable long unless they catch them rusty.

The only goal we scored was put into the net by a Blues player accidentally. Let that sink in how bad it is.
