The Sabres would need a good GM, scouting dept and owners to make ANY necessary expenditures and “shrewd” moves. In other words, it ain’t happening around here anytime soon.
-
Agreed. And if the Pegulas are ever dumb enough to let Adams trade away Eichel, they might as well sell the team the following day. To me that would be the last nail in their coffin as owners. It would finally expose them as moronic owners they are with no one left to defend them as so many like to do. This team is one of the monumentally historically most awful teams in league history these past 9 years. How they don’t get more of the blame for all this is beyond me.
-
The Pegulas should do the exact opposite of what they think is the “right” thing. Their odds of success can’t go anywhere but up.
-
I’d bet more on it being 2-3 years tops before they are thrown on the trash heap after the Sabres remain near the bottom five of the NHL standings.

Sabres Announce GM Jason Botterill has been Fired. Kevyn Adams Named GM
Forecheck replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
This is where I’m at. I haven’t bought a ticket or any Sabres merchandise in over two years now and I will never regret that decision. Fortunately I’m also moving out of WNY this fall so I’ll never have to worry about tickets again and I have enough Sabres stuff to last a lifetime. No need for more. Sad how far this team and my enthusiasm for them has fallen the past decade. -
I’ve never seen someone in professional sports so giddy at his introductory news conference as Adams Lol. He probably feels like he just won the lottery.
-
Anyone still wondering why the Sabres are where they are after the past 9 years only needs to watch this press conference to know the answer.
-
Just hopes and prayers it’ll happen.
-
Not surprising much, coming from them.
-
The Pegulas really really shouldn’t have agreed to do this zoom news conference. It feels rushed, uncomfortable and woefully ill prepared on top of the unprofessional overall look.

Adams looks like someone who just found an unexpected $20 in his pockets.

Well his last social media posting has him on a beach somewhere. Most likely far from Buffalo. Probably didn’t want a beach as his backdrop to a video call. He gave almost the exact same answer to the same question last end of season clean out as well. -

Physical toughness and intimidation on the ice creates offensive opportunities that wouldn’t normally be there other than outstanding offensive play. It’s another way to create opportunities/tilt the ice as us old timers like to say. It’s been something lacking for SOO long with Sabres teams that the average fan here in Buffalo doesn’t even recognize its importance anymore. Except when maybe watching the Stanley cup playoffs and seeing the good teams employing it. -
Is Botterill to blame for the Sabres Cap Troubles?
Forecheck replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I think Botterill is a terrible GM. But I don’t believe even he is a big enough idiot to come up with the idea to trade O’Reilly all by himself. NO chance. This directive came from above, almost assuredly for the exact reasons you listed. He made mistakes embarrassing to the organization and then the locker room statement. That is ALL it takes to cross the team president and earn a one way ticket out of town. To hasten it before July 1st and save on the bonus? That is 100% an ownership decision. -
Jack deserves SO much better than the Sabres organization. I don’t know if he will ever be free of here. But if/when he gets his freedom from Buffalo, not one single Sabres fan should think badly of him. NONE of this mess is his fault. He deserves a real organization. I hope he gets it someday soon. Whether it’s through drastic change here or somewhere else.

Is Botterill to blame for the Sabres Cap Troubles?

1000% Agreed. I don’t know if we know any of the same people/Sabres employees or not, but I know for a FACT that Murray wasn’t fired because of any moves he made or didn’t make or progression or lack thereof with the team. He was fired because of his extreme and very common use of cursing while discussing organizational matters with the 2 owners, who were appalled and embarrassed by it. One owner more than the other. -
Condescending and patronizing. Not surprised. Yeah if the Pegulas have proven anything the past nine years it’s that they know how to build a successful hockey club. ? I think we thought that a couple years ago. And maybe a couple before that. Oh, and a couple before that as well. You give them long enough I’m sure we will at least make the playoffs once in a generation.

He was flashy and exciting, but 95% of his rushes ended in giveaways or missed opportunities. He had tons of potential and very very little finish. -

You’re right about everything you said, except it isn’t Terry who thinks this way, it’s Kim. -

What really sticks out in these games is that the Sabres of 2005-06 ALL went to the net. Sometimes 2 or 3 players at one time converge on the net. They scored a lot of goals that way. They also had amazing passing. The current team could learn TONS from these games.
