It says msg OR sabres.com for all pre season games. This one is on msg only? It has been a long off season. I'm ready for some HOCKEY!!!! Let's go BUFFALO!!!

I definitely want to see an upgrade in the B goalie. Levi is very young and will need support.
-
All we needed was competent goaltending and we would have easily made the playoffs. I just don't get KA on this issue. Of course I would be willing to overpay a little for a goalie to make the playoffs. I think most people on here would. I don't think KA is though and I just don't get that.

Improve physique and skating? How about improving stopping the puck.

For the record I am in favor of keeping the TNT,Skinner and Tuch line together.
I am not a fan of Greenway with TNT. He's not skilled enough. I think he drags that line down.

Ray said in the broadcast that an email came out and it was determined it was not a distinct kicking motion. That's the explanation from Toronto.
I'll call as much BS as I can about it.. but clearly the Sabres should practicing using their skates to put pucks in the net. I would argue he was trying to kick it to his stick which would be a distinct kicking motion.
NHL wants more goals.. that's how you get more goals.
Yeah. I think the NHL needs to revisit this and try to come up with a more uniform answer cause they have been all over the place with those calls. It's a crap shoot every time Toronto makes a call.

My only concern with Levi is if he will be able to handle #1 goalie for the whole season. He did great this season but it was a very small sample size. I would like to see a very capable #2 brought in just in case Levi stumbles a little. Our other three goalies are not acceptable for me as backups for Levi.

They have 1/2 of the goaltending set for next year. They still need to pair Levi with somebody that gives the team a chance to win any given night. Sign Varlamov and then fix the D.
Agreed. I did fail to address that. Any of the three current goalies not named Levi are not sufficient. We need better.

Well, I'm happy overall with their effort the last several games. It was a good run at the end. Just played several tough teams in a row with a college goalie. Cant really complain about the results. They just ran out of gas.
At least we finally have our goaltending taken care of for next year. Now KA needs to go out and get some competent players to fill in some of the wholes in the bottom half of our defense and upgrade Okpposo and Girgs.

There is no doubt the only reason we are still in the hunt is because of Levi. If we were still going with the other three we would have been eliminated before now. So as long as Levi says he's good, run him.

What a win. Dahlin with a great game. I'll give them credit for keeping the pressure on after they scored the go ahead goal.

Let's go SABRES!!! It's April 8th and the dream is still alive..... barely. Just win. Find a way.
-
Wild one. But we got the two points. The dream is still alive on life support.
I agree with most. At least 3 of the goals were not on Levi.
Levi will need some help next year. It's too much to expect him to make the jump from college to first string starter in the NHL in his first year. I hope KA brings in a true 1a to tandem with Levi next year.

you want the players that want to play.
Absolutely. Tage knew the importance of this game and was going to play if at all possible. Sometimes that's not good because there may be a healthy player that could do better and you don't want to risk reinjury. It's a judgment call between player and coach and you hope they make the right call. But you definitely want that attitude.

Play Levi. He's the best goalie we got. We are still in it however slight it is. Crazier things have happened. LET'S GO BUFFALO!!!!

There's gonna be a book on him next season. I think that is the difference between what he does now vs. expectations next season. It'll be interesting to see what the Sabres do with him, but i think to say there is no chance he goes to AHL is wrong.
There is absolutely no way the Sabres are running out both Comrie and UPL next season as the only 2 backup options if Levi falls off or something happens like a injury. Also, Sabres won't have 3-goalies again i'm sure. UPL will need to clear waivers. Someone picks him up (or comrie) right before opening night and just like that Sabres are stuck with Levi and one of those 2? No chance. I can't be convinced of that.
You have more faith in KA than I do

I expect him to shop around the goalie market, find out that the small group of available goalies on short-term deals either “cost too much to acquire,” or “aren’t significantly better” than UPL or Comrie and let the three of them battle it out in training camp. That’s a battle I expect Levi to win, and Adams does too.
Again, it’s not what I would do. I would throw a $6 million AAV two-year offer at an Andersen or Varlamov, or pay the necessary price for a similar-level goalie with a year or 2 left on his contract.
I’d fully expect Levi to supplant him - maybe even immediately - but it’s a price I’m willing to pay for the security blanket.
Exactly. What's the total salary for the team? We could have dished out an extra 3-4 million over Comrie's salary and gotten someone better over the last 2-3 years and we would be in the playoffs now. This is KA's last shot at it. Surely 3-4 million would have been worth being in the playoffs.
For next season, Levi is till a rookie and very young. I'm not sure he can handle the #1 spot right out of the gate for the entire season. I also want no part of UPL or Comrie. They haven't hardly shown they are backup worthy. Get someone to compliment Levi effectively (a1-b1) and even with no other changes to the lineup we make the playoffs. Hopefully there are a couple other upgrades to the roster.

Levi is by far the best goalie of the bunch. I can't remember the last time one of the other three only allowed two goals in regulation two games in a row.
Tage definitely playing hurt.

Levi in net. As it should be. Let's go boys. This is the season.
-
Let's go BUFFALO!!!!! I sure hope Levi gets the call. I think we can win this one with him in net. Probably less than 50-50 with anyone else.
-
Well it's a crap shoot for any of them. Any of them could play a great game and any of them could crap their pants just as well. So if it's a chance on any of them I go with the kid. The pressure of this game could be an issue for Levi just being his second nhl game and essentially our playoff hopes. But I believe the team will rally around him and give them a jump for this game.

I don't know what this feeling is🤣. It's been soooo long. Still in the hunt with just a handful of games left. Happy camper here.

UPL with a good game. Only let three in. I'm all in for Levi against Florida.
-
Great game. What a refreshing sight to see what a real goalie looks like. Not one soft goal was let in. Kept the team in it with just two goals allowed. Any of our other goalies and we lose this 4-2. I will also give credit to the team for playing good defense in front of Levi
