  1. What a revolving door this year. I like GMTM's approach in a season where layoffs are out of reach. I hope that he is building enough depth to carry both the Sabres and Amerks into deep playoff runs.

It has been, but these two guys are just coming over to get in a couple of AHL games after their CHL seasons ended. This might have happened even if the Amerks were in the playoffs.

The Sabres and injuries haven't helped out the Amerks much this year though - that's for sure.

  2. We may miss it live if it ever happens but we'd all be lining up to buy the Stanley Cup Champion dvd that would be synced to his call from the radio so in the end we'd still get to hear it.

    I'm sure they'll make it.

I don't know how many people realize or remember, but Rick's famous "MAY DAY! MAY DAY!" call was only on the radio. John Gurtler was the TV play-by-play at the time.

I will be happy that Rick gets to make that "SABRES HAVE WON THE CUP!" call on any outlet.

  3. Because the "networks of NBC/Universal" will be showing every NHL Stanley Cup Playoff game - and I do think that is awesome - does that mean we'll never again hear Jeanneret call a Sabres playoff game on TV? Will they still let MSG have a local broadcast?

I know you can try to match up the radio broadcast with the video, but it's not easily - especially when you have to stream WGR if you don't live in Buffalo.

All I want more than a Sabres Stanley Cup is to hear Rick call it.

Of course, we have to cherish every Jeanneret game from here on out. Hopefully there are more to come. I've been on board with the complete rebuild and the tank, but it makes me sad we had to waste two of what few years of Rick we have left.

  4. Nolan.

"riding the hot goaltender", all year long versus going with a traditional 2-1 rotation has cost team at least 8-10 points.

Nolan is a hypocrite.  He signed the contract knowing the organizational strategy, yet, decided not to do his part.  I have no respect for the man.

I kind of have to agree with this.

I know Hackett got hurt, but even knowing his contract situation, he still kept riding Lindback. Also, especially with us being out of the playoffs, he should have been playing the kids more, but instead rode his veterans like Ellis which accomplishes nothing. Meaningless wins that actually hurt the team's future are a result of vanity.

  5. To calm the masses:

    T. Murray on McDavid & Eichel: It's very close between these two guys.

    @JeremyWGR:

Murray: “You don’t get the same interview requests that you do about Eichel. it’s very close. They’re both probably franchise players."

I found the audio of the entire Murray interview:

  6. My biggest Azar moment in Sabres history is when he went to the airport to see Jim Schonefeld off after his trade to Detroit in 81 and big Jimmy was crying and Azar didn't know what to say and started tearin g up himself. I looked on youtube for it but can't find.

I remember that. I also remember Danny Gare was PISSED. He was very angry about getting traded. I guess he got over it...

  7. After every home loss, the fans should shout, "thank you Sabres, thank you Sabres". Maybe that will sooth the player's hurt feelings.

I was thinking that the first home game after the Sabres have hopefully "clinched" 30th place should have the loudest cheers for the Sabres in years.
