  1. I just like the idea that GMTM needs to do something to ensure we finish last. Newflash: he doesn't give a sh*t. If GMTM is sitting in his office thinking "okay, gotta bottom these guys out at all costs", then he should be fired.

He'll get what he can get to make the team better for next season and we'll draft wherever those moves put us.

vlad and d4rk have it right.  We'll finish where we finish and GMTM will maximize the return.

Important to remember that however you want it to end, you have no effect on the outcome.  Just watch and learn.  And don't get your panties in a knot.

Do me a favor guys, go to the website called YouTube.com and type in CONNOR MCDAVID.

  2. Possibly those meaningless wins put Arizona and Edmonton right back into the mix. Those 2 games against Arizona will be huge. I sure hope Murray gets these UFA's out of town tonight or by the deadline. Darcy is coming back to haunt us if they finish last. We just can't get rid of that loser.

Yup, at least we can watch the trade deadline with some enthusiasm now. Funny how 2 franchise players will make you want to lose, and not really care if you get robbed in trades. I can't wait for this gongshow to be over so we can all remember what hockey is all about.

  3. I don't know if I would go so far on wanting Murray Fired but I don't think you will see significant returns on any of our UFA's!

The race should not have been anywhere near this close, and that is my problem. I'm confident in our ability to everything up, but does that mean we will up finishing last too?

  4. Dreger reporting the deal send Glencross to Washington but I don't have a 2nd source for confirmation yet.

EDIT: So Glencross to the Capitals for 2 picks, details on those picks still unknown.

    EDIT^2: Picks are a 2nd and a 3rd.

It has been confirmed that both picks are for the upcoming 2015 draft.

  5. Stewart to Boston(half salary retained) and a 4th for a 1st. Mezaros will go for a prospect(expect to retain salary or acquire a salary dump player) the other ufas can go for future considerations for all I care. Look at the points McDavid is putting up compared to mackinnon or any other 1st overall selection. I would ship guys with expiring contracts for virtually nothing to get a better chance at him.

  6. How valuable is an NHL draft pick?

Already posted this in the Vancouver GdT. Figured I'd post it here too

we will trade players and we will shart harder than everyone else.

I really hope so, words can't express the disappointment of not finishing last this year. I was cursing yesterday when I finished hockey and seen we won 6-3.

  7. hmm.  Well with how good Provorov has played and depending on the team sitting at #3, I could see that happening but currently do not believe it likely.  whichever on draft day some strange things happen.

Yeah, he's currently ranked 10th in the iss rankings. Like you said the way he played recently is most likely what fueled the article. I agree it's unlikely, however it's good to see guys closing the gap. My guess is whichever defenseman Edmonton prefers is likely to be the defenseman called.

  8. Essentially when every fan immediately called him a "thug" after the trade it was obvious that there were always racial issues. 'Thug' is the new way to say 'n-word' without actually saying it (in many, not all situations). This is one of those situations.

Never heard one person call him a thug. As I stated, Bufuglien is black. That is 100% not the case. The problem with Kane was he put himself before the team, and didn't act like a professional. Can you provide me with any proof of any Winnipeg fan calling Kane a thug? Or anything remotely racist? I sure as he'll can't and I know thousands of jets fans.

  9. BU. Your post is the equivalent of saying Jim Kelly was the best Dolphins QB of all time.

Yeah BU my bad. Don't hate me for saying this but I don't pay any attention to the NFL so I don't know how to take that comment.

    This will never happen.

I will bet you money Jack Eichel does not do that.

Didn't say he was going to, didn't even imply it actually. I was just saying that if he was going to go back there for another year he would do so before signing(like my post said). You said there's a 0% chance of it happening so I'd throw $1 at 1000000-1 odds if your interested?

(I've only skimmed this last page, but I'm seeing signs of hysterics.)

An Islanders blogger clarified the CBA pretty well when Islanders fans were shitting themselves about Anders Lee a year after Justin Schultz went to Edmonton:

CBA gibberish, skip it if you like:

    Clarification:

However, this ability to go UFA as described in the clarification only applies to players that have not been signed as of four years or more since the date they were drafted.  Eichel won't reach the four-years-since-drafted mark until June 2019, which will be one year after his graduation date.  He couldn't escape Buffalo's rights until then.  That's the part of the CBA that I bolded.  So if Eichel wanted to escape Buffalo, he would graduate in 2018, and then be a holdout for one full year.  That would give us plenty of time to shame him and trade him.

In Schultz' case, he played a year of juniors after his draft year, then joined Wisconsin, then was eligible to escape Anaheim as a UFA by deregistering after four years has passed since the draft but before his senior year had started.  This eligibility isn't met by most players and won't be met by Eichel.

But there's a strong motivating factor for Eichel, who will likely have the option to go pro well before 2019, not to do this.  The biggest reason why he won't do this?

    MILLIONS OF DOLLARS.

Everyone- the GM, the coach, his former coaches, NHL players, his family, his friends, and his agent especially will tell him how important it will be to start his professional career ASAP and to sign a guaranteed contract BEFORE HE SUFFERS A CAREER ENDING INJURY.  While the chances of this are slim, it is the most important consideration for young athletes.  Yes, it's an honor and a dream come true to be drafted.  Yes, they want to live their dream of playing pro.  Yes, they want to play as hard as they can to win at the pro level.  Yes, they want to play toward their dream of winning the Stanley Cup.  Those are the dreams.  But they perceive a very real need to be compensated for the extremely risky profession they've undertaken and worked towards since their youth.  Suffering a career-ending injury without compensation would be a life-altering disaster.  Those are the nightmares.

Great post, although I wouldn't say "without compensation" he would have a education to fall back on. I'm aware that wouldn't be the same amount of money, or anywhere near it, but there is something to gain.

  10. Considering I've explained that to people several times making sure how I wouldn't get that distinction.

The point was more directed at ELC's not being allowed to be 1 way; w/ the implication that players on ELC's cannot receive NMC's either; though that isn't expressly stated. But it is expressly stated that players on ELC's can be assigned to the ECHL w/out their consent; which implies they can be sent down to the AHL w/out their consent.

    11.8 states explicitly that Group 3 FA's can receive NMC's &/or NTC's. Implying that non-group 3 FA's can't get NMC's. 18 yo's AREN'T in Group 3. So, the original Q is reasked: how would he get a NMC?

If Eichel decided he wanted to play another year at BC he would have to do so before signing an ELC. Once he signs he can't chose to go back know any reason. If he wanted to he could finish school and not sign with us at all. Once he graduates he could sign anywhere as a UFA for any amount.

I really don't see McDavid or Eichel playing the season opener on the 1st line. To me they should be playing a little more sheltered minutes with more offensive zone starts. I'm not saying all season but I think they shouldn't just be thrown into the fire, playing against top competition

  11. I'm not sure if Kane had any of these kind of issues in Winnipeg.  Did he say he did?  I don't recall a report on it.

Winnipeg is generally viewed by most Canadians as the *most openly racist city in Canada*.  MacLeans Magazine recently did a story on it.  In general the shameful racism in Winnipeg is directed towards the large and pretty much segregated Aboriginal population (Canada's largest).

Byfuglien is black too and he's the fan favorite so I don't think it had much to do with Kane.

  12. we will trade for a goalie when the time is right. Don't remember exactly what Murray said about the rebuild but I think he said build the offense and defense then find your goalie where is he? Montreal? What do you think it would take to get him or a malcolm subban.

Schneider was traded for a 1st round pick, which became Bo Horvat. I'd say he had more value then Fucale and Subban. I'd be pumped if we traded our other low 1st for a goalie of Schneider's caliber. I'm not too sure an opportunity like that will present itself but I wouldn't want to pay more then a 2nd or a mediocre prospect and a later Rd pick. Edit: for Fucale or Subban or any other goaltending prospect.
