  1. Thought about this the whole way to work. Another veteran top four dman and top six forward would be nice.

Power is a train wreck. Put Muel with him to cover his defensive ineptitude. Joker with Dahlin and keep the J&J pair. Put Clifton in the press box for 65 games.

    Skinner Mitts TBD

    Peterka Cozens TBD

    Greenway Jost TBD

    Girgs Krebs KO

TBDs are some type of VO, Rousek, and Kulich. They get replaced with Tuch, Quinn, and Benson as they return, respectively.

If they can acquire a top six forward not named Kane it would help now and when our broke guys return. I really miss the Greenway Mitts Benson line.

This may be a controversial opinion, but it's time to abandon variations of "Must Win" in game day threads. They are the greatest constant during our run of futility and it's time it's left in the past. If there was ever a horse that was beat to death, it's posters commenting Mustard Wegmans and the ilk in game day threads. We haven't had a must win game in 10+ years and that's obviously part of the joke. If people are as optimistic as they say they are, let's leave our old traditions of essentially mocking ourselves and move forward.

It’s not a serious thing. More of an unofficial tradition and lighthearted way to start the GDT.

Its Mostly Whiners who complain about it. J/k😅

I went through this with the Braves.  I don't have the mental make-up for it.

    Interesting thing to think about.

I think I COULD, but the thing that might turn me off is what would inevitably happen:  When I saw the players, the coaches, etc  have interviews over and over saying about how they love the new city, they are embracing the fanbase, saying how great the fans are for coming out to support them......and the marketing for the new team breaking most/all times with the "Buffalo Sabres" to build their own brand and marketing....well. that might do it for me.  Its not that I don't expect that to happen, but in today's society it would likely go too overboard for my taste.

At that point I would probably look around the league for a team that hasn't won in a while, but has a fun, young core and is starting to have success, with a young player or two that I really like... and start to follow them.

A decade ago (or more) when the Bills were playing in Toronto I kinda went through this thought process. There was talk that maybe the Bills, if they didn't get a new stadium, would move to Toronto. I thought...I don't go to the games myself..I live in Northern Niagara county and on a clear day I can SEE the Rogers center across the lake...we'd still be able to follow them on radio and get to watch all their games, so no big deal to me.  THEN, all it took is for me to hear ONE caller on 590 out of Toronto talk about this and say if the Bills moved there he would want to make sure they had NOTHING to do with "Buffalo" or the "Bills", he said he'd want them to be called Toronto of course, but pick a new team name, even change the colors.  I was like...if THAT is the attitude the fans want then screw Toronto (as far as the Bills going there is concerned)

Not me.  I didn't do it with the Braves, not gonna ever do it.

If the Buffalo Sabres move to another city forget them - and expect that city to do a complete name and jersey makeover.  The Buffalo emblem can only be for The City of Buffalo.

Buffalo would almost certainly get a new team down the road. I’d root for the current team if they moved because it’s the same team, different city. Already know the players and the history.

No way I will root for the Rags, Isles, dare I say Laughs.

Expect the frustration should be, not that it's the best answer that management can come up with, but that it's appearing to be the best answer management can enact.

Is it the best answer for team success they can come up with or the best answer to keep fans engaged? I don’t know but I am worried it’s the latter.

  5. My take on Kane coming to Buffalo is more negative. I’m not attacking anyone else’s view it’s just that I’m more pessimistic about this.

He’s 34 and recently had what I can only guess is a major hip surgery. If he was 24 and had the same surgery I probably wouldn’t think twice about it.

As I previously mentioned, his guilt or innocence will cause division in the fan base. Whether it’s negligible is yet to be seen. I doubt it impacts the on ice product.

We literally went down this road a couple years ago with Staal and Hall. Well known player signs with an underperforming and dare I say uninspiring team. Fans (myself included) get excited. Turns out to be a waste of time.

It’s already been 15 games. It will take a few more until he is in game shape and integrated with his linemates. It may take even more to find the right linemates. This in turn may have a ripple effect where established Sabres have to figure out how to play with new linemates. Just spit balling but I’d say by game 25 is when things will settle which leaves around 55-57 games left to fix the damage our record has caused.

The consensus is Kane is an upgrade on the PP. So this one guy is going to have such an impact on the PP we make the playoffs despite have a sub .500 record right now?

I guess my frustration is that this is the best answer the organization can come up with.

    Respectfully, Kane was innocent.

Also of note: Kevyn Adams knows Kane well…having been his roomate when he entered the league. They have remained friends. Don Granato was an asst coach in Chicago and Kane really likes him

Right or wrong there are people who think he’s innocent and guilty. There will be division to some extent.

I would have been more open to Kane coming to Buffalo in his prime. Something tells me it’ll be Staal 2.0 just so he retires as a member of his hometown childhood team.

As fans we’ll hope for the best and justify his presence if it happens.

So, the Sabres aren't a big, physical team. But they're also not a particularly fast team. What is their competitive edge?

IMO, they are a creative team capable of cycling the puck and showing patience. Sometimes they’re over creative and pass too much. They do have some speed on the first three lines too. Team defense appears to have improved.

I don’t think it’s a lack of specific identity. They are becoming more well rounded.

Sabre Spacers - when setting up GDT, would you please include whether the game is on ESPN+, TNT, etc....  I would love to get MSG but many / most(?) of us are not local anymore, and we are in the days of streaming services. I say this to be a total PITA.

So I guess my expectation is that you look at EVERY Sport Streaming service each time you are setting up a GDT and show every possible / feasible streaming option in North America and for @Huckleberry in Europe. Anyone else out there need other international access information?

Not too much to ask, I don't think. 😜

Too many options to watch games to list in every GDT title.
