  1. I say try it.  We cant get much worse.  The guy has more experience than most if not all of our players with the exception of Gionta.

But LA tried to trade him and couldn't what would allow GMTM too?

If a change of scenery sparks better play out of him then it may cause contenders to notice.  You never know.  Cant get anywhere by being cautious.

    He'd have to clear waivers.

Well if he doesnt clear waivers then we don't have to worry about his contract.  If he does clear we get a chance to see how he fits in with the organization.

The Sabres don't need somebody else's problems. He brings nothing to the table.

    Didn't stop us before (Leino).

  2. Kaner wasn't drunk enough last night.

This all star game thing is pretty meh.

Agreed. Creative but slow. I was also disappointed in the fastest skater competition yesterday. I liked how both skaters use to start on the red line and go behind the net.

Imagine if Kaleta was in an All Star Game. The leagues best and unsuspecting players would make him feel like a fat kid in a candy store.

    Avril Lavigne

    Justin Beiber

come on ppl keep the list going

the beebs and his photo shopped package.
  3. If you can't draw a straight line from aids accusations to questioning someone's sequel orientation, I don't know if we can have a conversation.

I read one post from Drunkard. If there was another questioning Crosbys orientation then I missed it. Doesn't mean you have to be a dbag about it.
  4. Not sure about that. Not sure if it's the losing that's taken their excitement away and made them, more so Risto, not care, but they aren't close to being a 1-2 pair yet, and if we lose Myers it's up to them and Georges to fill out that spot. Not exactly thrilled about that next season; I'd much rather have them paired as 1-2 guys for next season.

I'm on the fence about Myers. I was a huge advocate of trading him away earlier this year, and last year, but the more I think about it the more I realize how far off the rest of our d-men are from being competent full time NHL players, let alone living up to their supposed potential

Ya I dunno. It's a hell of a situation. Maybe we can sucker someone into taking Mess and Benoit. Nobody thinks Mess will be here next year anyway. Might as well try to get something for him like a fruit basket or something. I think our poor play just degrades everyone's value except Girgensons and Ennis and I hope we keep those two, Risto and Zadorov. At this point I think Girgensons rise kind of puts Grigorenko and Armia in a bit of a situation. He has developed much quicker than those two and now throw in Reinhart and our likely 2015 pick. I'm sure we could get something of value for a Grigorenko/Hodgson or Stafford/Armia deal. Not sure what as I just thought about it. Next year I would like to see Lemieux get some fourth line action.
  5. I think the way around the contract issues is a conditional pick, or by making them take Cody Hodgson for a pick.

O'Reilly is a good fit and exactly the sort of player Murray said he would target.

I just really worry about our young defence without Myers.

don't be worried. Zadorov and Risto are good to go. Two big puck moving physical dmen make Myers expendable anyway.
  6. So you shouldn't have any problems sticking to the tank threads.

GDT Five-oh. Relax man its an online forum not a Congressional hearing. In fact every time you complain about it more ppl will bring it up. If the game impacts our team's chance of picking number one then it kind of belongs in the GAME DISCUSSION THREAD. After all what else is there to talk about in the last 11 games.

Anyways you made your point as did others so let's look forward to the Skills Competition.

  7. It's kind of fascinating in a twisted way to watch the difference between the Sabres and a real NHL team.

Sabres try hard much of the time but there is no talent and certainly no system in place to generate any puck movement or flow, unlike the Red Wings.

The PK is painful to watch, with all of the Sabres constantly collapsing in a tight box inside the circles, leaving the Wings to move the puck at will.

There are never any second chances (and darn few first chances) in the offensive zone.

But most significantly, they are just weak on the puck.

They need their goalie to stand on his head, and Enroth sure hasn't been doing that since their mini streak last month.

agreed. Collapsing allows the point to make passes which forces the box to open anyway. Might as well pressure the point to make a mistake.
