I'm not so sure they can be used to drive the price down. Most teams cannot afford/do not need Luongo. Kipper is retiring so is basically another Thomas - i.e. he will be traded for his contract and nothing more. The biggest issue would be Luongo being bought out - hence why it is important to trade Miller at the deadline (if we are going to trade him) My list of potential goalie buyers: 1) Edmonton 2) New Jersey 3) New York Islanders 4) Tampa 5) Minnesota 6) Colorado 7) Winnipeg

I want them to win for Iginla's sake
-
Luongo's contract is awful - that seriously limits who can/will take him Fleury is a proven playoff failure (5/7 seasons below .900) Kipper is retiring at the end of the season - he never had any intention of playing this last year apparently Miller has a nice contract, is younger than Luongo, plays better in the playoffs and is not retiring

To Vanek: Do we make an offer? Yes - important to try and retain stars How much do we offer? 32.5 What is the length of the offering? 5 years (6.5 per - he has only hit the 70+ mark twice) Until what time is that offer available before we must consider other routes? Up until the draft To Miller: Do we make an offer? Yes - important to try and retain stars How much do we offer? 32.5 What is the length of the offering? 5 years (stars often get the same deals now a days - Malkin/Crosby - Sedins -Pairse/Sutter) Until what time is that offer available before we must consider other routes? Up until the draft Now flip the roles. Pretend that the players are in control of their own destiny. If you're Vanek: How much do you want? 22.5 How long do you want it? 3 (7.5 average) What are your career goals? Win the cup Do you sign with the Sabres? If they offer me this money then yes - short enough you can move on to another team and still have time to win a cup, and long enough to see how close the Sabres are after a reboot. I think Vanek is traded though If you're Miller: How much do you want? 35 How long do you want it? 5 What are you career goals? Win the cup - ideally live closer to wife Do you sign with the Sabres? About to be 33. Still got one more year. If you sign this contract you will be a sabre for life. If you don't, you need to join a team like the Vokoun did (sign a very cheap contract with a team that is likely to win the cup). Ultimately I think he signs

I'm not sure if you are being ignorant or joking? I'll inform you anyway - he had a concussion going into the playoffs and all the commentators said he has come back too early. He didn't look himself out there. Clearly he wasn't ready when he averaged 13mins a game, compared to his usual 20+. As for him being a creampuff for getting hurt well a) he is very very healthy he has barely missed any games in his career b) You take an elbow to the head from a professional athlete with a chunk of plastic attached to his elbow and see how long it takes you to recover c) He played when he clearly was 100% to try and help his team

They can have an agreement in place, informally. So nothing stops one side screwing the other over. But yeah they can talk about it before the 5th. I expect they either go at the deadline or we expect an extension 6 days later

Crosby really is in a league of his own. Backhand semi-no look saucer pass right to Letang for the one timer on the PP. Nabby is chased
-
Fluery has a save percentage below .900 in 5/7 post seasons he has played in. The guy chokes in the playoffs. I'd go with Tomas, he has looked really good so far
-
Wow...two weak goals by Nabby. Especially the second one 3-0 - awesome goal by Crosby, outmuscled two D-men. Iginla is 1-7-8 so far in the post season. Imagine what this guy could have done with a decent centre in his career
-
I agree it wasn't his guy, but you would think when he sees the puck go to an unmarked man 10ft from the goal that he would dive or something

Well she's a bottle blonde

They're engaged

If you can have two 80 point scorers on your second line, then yes, you win the cup. The only way you come even close to doing it is to sell off any prospects you have and trade your best defensemen - and even then you have to go for picks/prospects and hope they turn out. Nobody is trading a Tavares for an Edler. Luongo will be lucky to return a 2nd - vancouver have no real bargaining power. He wants out, they don't want him and he has an awful contract. I'm not sure why you suggest moving Kesler to the top line, he jus doesn't have the skill However, this won't even work as you end up with the Flyer's defence and an average goalie - ask the Pens how that tactic has been working out I agree both should go. I also think trading Cody was Gillis's worst move. All i ever hear Vancouver fans say is that Kassian has the hockey iq of a gorilla. In a year/post season they needed depth, cody was their answer. instead they got a 4th line goon (yes he might develop to be more but he isn't there yet) The Sedin's are 33 this summer. They have a year or two left before they just become ageing star vets (Iginla). If I am the gm, i go big and i go bold this off season with the hope of making it next year

I think what made the goal allowed was that he moved both feet in a stopping motion (rather than one in a kick motion with his weight on the other foot). I do, however, think his stopping motion was timed to aim the puck at the net - but that's allowed. If Kaleta gets suspended for multiple games for nudging Richards then I have no problem with Sedin getting 2 minutes for a similar play
-
My thoughts exactly. Paille suffered from the fact he was a first rounder, and the fact that the Sabres had far too many role players/mediocre players. Sadly this second problem still exists.
-
Wow - I can't wait for game 4 of sens-habs For those talking about deliberately shooting the puck at a player - Alfie shot it against Scott Nidiermeyer in 07 - i don't think he got a suspension I'd be shocked if anyone got a suspension - i'd hope some Montreal players would after their disgrace on the ice
-
It is as clean as an open ice hit can be. The head is in the middle of the body, it will always get hit. The only thing that matters is if it is the principle point of contact - which it wasn't. The shoulder was the principle point of contact and Eller's head hit the back shoulder pad of Gryba
-
Shanahan needs to go. There is no explanation for how Ferrence gets 1 game and Brown gets 2 for repeatedly elbowing but this gets 2. What rule did he break?
-
I think he was just bracing himself for the check What did Maclean say to make Prust say that?

Hodgson's time in Vancouver is marred because of a back injury that the team medics missed, which meant Coho struggled. He went to an outside doctor who caught it and saved his career. Also he could never get significant playing time when Mr Art Ross and Mr Selke were above him in the depth chart. Gillis then said Coho was lazy after he traded him - but this is most likely to try and cover his ass as the fans were ready to riot again Coho's work ethic has always been exemplary here and never questioned - neither has his character. The leadership comes from all over the place - before he was drafted he was said to have leadership qualities, the vets on the cancuk's and the fans all said he was a good young leader, the fans basically saw him as their next captain in 5 years when Sedin retires etc. He is definitely a leader on the ice (by example), i don't know what he is like in the locker room

Ah man! I wanted Nill for us. Stupid Darcy. If he lived in Japan he would have fallen on his sword by now
-
So the Avs couldn't do even one thing right this season. However, Minny who has been struggling now faces the beast of the West. They order the draft by points, mostly, and there are two teams who have a worse record than the Wild - Ottawa and New York Islanders (stupid Wild ROW). Ottawa has one game left against the Bruins. If they win, Minny will pick 16th, instead of 17th, and they will deny the Bruins the division

Leggio with a solid .669 save percentage
-
Guess Grigo didn't make the cut. He is a scratch for this game I think
