  1. The bad news keeps getting worse for Darcy Regier's Sabres. With last night's game, we've played 1/5th of the entire season. Gentlemen, the news is not good

-Goals For Per game - WORST in the entire league at only 1.47. Last night we lost to the SECOND worst team in this statistic - the Rangers are only 1.67, but someone managed to play above average against Regier's Sabres.

-Goals Against - 10th worst in the league at 2.87, and that's despite having one of the best goalies in the league in the net.

    - Differential - Goals For vs Goals Against - WORST in the league at -1.4

-Shots fired - WORST in the league at only 25.3 shots. This statistic probably paints a prettier picture than reality, honestly. I've noticed the bulk of the Sabres shots are in "garbage time" during the later half of the 3rd period where the opposing team is hunkering down and going into "prevent mode".

-Shots against - 3rd worst in the league at 35.9 shots against per game.

-Shots fired vs Shots against differential - WORST IN THE LEAGUE at -10.6

-PPG - tied for 4th worst at 5 PPG

PPGA - 8th worst in the league

Power Play percentage - 4th worst in the league at only 10.9%

Total points - 5 pts. WORST in the league - the next worst, Philly, at 6 points - has played 4 fewer games than the Sabres

The stats keep getting worse for the team. In 5 significant team statistics, the Buffalo Sabres are the WORST in hockey. In another 3, they're in the bottom 5. The other 2 that I listed above are bottom 10.

These are just dreadful statistics. The Sabres are actually making the 3-5 Bills somehow look like a successful, well-run organization in comparison. Darcy Regier needs to get pounded on/hounded by sports writers, commentators, and the sports media every single time he steps in front of a podium until he fixes this team, or Pegula gets someone else to do the job.

  2. Vanek could of milked the Sabres and Darcy of a big contract to finish up his career, I give him credit for wanting to be somewhere where winning is going to be more important to him than being paid more money.

It's hard to believe Miller doesn't want to go too. I'm sure he'd like to play for a team with a chance of a Cup win, vs sweating it out in Buffalo and watching his prime physical years evaporate fruitlessly, and be squandered on and for a team that will be at or near the bottom of the division for the foreseeable future.

  3. Unbelievable to me that this deadwood is still on the roster - I think it sends a terrible message to the locker room - that good players are sent packing, and poor players are retained, and not even benched.

Stafford being kept on the roster is a glaring example of "what did he do WRONG?" when it comes to Darcy Regier. Unfortunately, Terry Pegula only asked that question rhetorically - I don't believe he actually wants an answer or rebuttal. Terry Pegula has left no avenue of which I'm aware for anyone to respond. I interpret that to mean that he is not interested in hearing any feedback or information that runs contrary to his very frame outlook on the Sabres and Darcy Regier.

  4. 1. His first rebuild was nowhere near this scale.

    2. His first rebuild was on a leash. I would expect another home to be much better quality when the builder is allowed to do as he pleases to make it right no matter the cost.

But, we've been over this several times.

Yeah, and the answers still still quite weak, and come across as "spin" by those defending Regier. There is no team in the NHL where the imprint of the GM is stronger upon it than the current Sabres.

You know who must be really depressed today? Ryan Miller - for the time being, he's still stuck here on this train wreck of Regier's.

  5. How in the hell is a GM supposed to rebuild AND wait around for a draft class that suits him? Man, seriously grasping at straws.

A GM rebuilding the team he built. The whole notion is just so very interesting - like a home builder building a ###### house, and then declaring it's no good - and that he has gotta tear it down and start again. LOL And outside observers would expect the second home made by the same builder to be better than the first?

  6. Meh, I'm getting the impression Moulson has been under the microscope: http://eyesonisles.c...t-matt-moulson/

So maybe we traded one dog with fleas, for another dog with a different set of fleas? LOL I think the only thing that matters to Pegula and Co. is the draft picks - whether Moulson plays well or not is just an afterthought, because he's just passing through anyways.

Regier's evasive answer when asked - "Is this season a write-off?" - that confirmed what many are already thinking.

  7. On the face of it, it appears we got a more durable player who has similar production in the past 4 years along w/ a 1st and 2nd. For what appears to be a rental for the Isles. There has to be money behind the scenes of this trade....maybe we're eating 2-3M of Vanek's salary this year? He's making 6.4M in real money this year.

Yeah, like Terry Pegula paying Jason Pominville approx. $700k to come to home and embarrass the Sabres in their own crib a couple weeks ago.

  8. What did you want asked?

I posted 2 or 3 above - and there were a couple others - but what's the point? There's no accountability for Regier within the Sabres - Pegula is just a fan-boy. I think the press just needs to keep hammering on him and the management, and keep the pressure on - highlight empty seats, dissatisfied fans, listless play by veterans, etc etc etc. There should be negative articles and columns about the Sabres regularly appearing in print, and on TV.

  9. Terrible officiating today, that appeared to be slanted in favor of the Saints when it was really important.

How could the Saints not be flagged for pass interference on Chandler during the touchdown attempt? And how does Dumb-dorf and the other commentator not even notice or mention the glaring pass interference? And then Fred Jackson has to carry the ball twice into the end-zone to get it to count once?

  10. Since this is sort of the catch-all football topic...Skip Ball-less....errr, I mean Bayless... was just about in tears over the Patriots loss to the Jets on Sunday. Cry us a friggin' river, dude!

What is there about Boston sports that makes the players, coaches and fans such a bunch of cry-babies? Tom Brady seems to always be whining to the officials looking for some kind of flag after a play doesn't go as planned. This guy Bayless must wear Belichick or Brady Underoos to bed at night.
