  1. Hey Peppy,

    Very nice as always.

I noticed on your web site that you have that now infamous quote from TP on the day he was introduced as owner ... problem is you list him as the General Manager.

Maybe that is by design, since TP is calling all the shots now.

my bad. I think I had a GM quote before and forgot to change the last part...

  2. New Season is upon us. Sabres drafted Reinhart and Lemieux while trading for Gionta and Gorges. New Season, new hope and we kick off the monthly Wallpaper with an old face. Tyler Ennis is the Coverboy for the month of september. It's only pre-season but we are getting closer boys and girls. Hope you like it.

Note: I know the header on that Blog is pretty pretty outdated with Ehrhoff and Ott but I will update it soon ;)

  3. Incredible game in the german cup on Friday

3rd League Team Chemnitz vs. 1st League Team Mainz

    24' 0 - 1 Niki Zimling

    49' 0 - 2 Shinji Okazaki

    50' 1 - 2 Anton Fink

    53' 2 - 2 Anton Fink

    73' 2 - 3 Ja-Cheol Koo

    87' 3 - 3 (o.g.) Niko Bungert

    103' 4 - 3 Markus Ziereis

    109' 4 - 4 Niko Bungert

    119' 5 - 4 Marco Kehl

    120' 5 - 5 Johannes Geis

Chemnitz won 10:9 after penalties. The crazy part however was the goal for Mainz that tied it at 5 in the dying seconds of extra time

  4. Very happy for you and your country! Soccer's popularity has grown in the U.S., but not to what you guys have it at in Germany. If the U.S. had won the World Cup, the celebration wouldn't have been as large. Not as many employers would be "understanding" why a person called in "sick" that day after winning a World Cup. One can only hope. Again, congrats to Germany!!! Glad they won it.

The US is actually on a good way. The reason why many americans don't like soccer might be that they only know or have watched the MLS. WIth all respect the MLS is nowhere near the Premier League, La Liga or the Bundesliga. At least not yet. That's makes it difficult for US players to develop. See it the other way around Germany sucks at hockey because our league isnt good and the challenge is much higher in the US or Canada. It's kinda the same thing. It's gonna be difficult for the MLS to attract world class players in their prime so the only way for US players to become great players is to move to europe. However people sometimes have a hard time identifying with the players if they are that far away.

To close out the World Cup from a german standpoint. I live in Berlin and the team arrived here yesterday. I live kinda close to the airport so I knew they would fly over my flat and then I saw them... maybe 500 meters above me :) The city was filled with people. in front of the brandenburger gate more than 500.000 people waited... some even slept there over night. At 8 am they had to close the first gates because there were too many people. Overall they were more than 1 million people on the streets (Berlin roughly has 4 Million people who live here

The pilot actually made a turn before landing and flew over the 500.000 people waiting at the brandenburger gate. The pilot "waved" using the wings of his plane.

That can be seen hereat 00:30

Mesut Özil also uploaded a video from the truck they were using to get through the city until they arrived at the gate. Damn it you must feel like jesus in that situation.

  5. But seriously, if we're talking about eras, let's consider that last week was Germany's first semifinal in 12 years. Hardly dominating.

What? Germany reached the semifinal in 2002 2006 2010 and 2014.. they are the first nation ever to reach 4 consecutive world cup semis and the only team in the history to reach a world cup final in the past 7 decades

    BOTTOM LINE

BEST DAY OF MY LIFE! BY FAR! I am so happy right now I can not put it into words. Saw many tears of joy last night.

500.000 people at the viewing party in berlin. huging people you ahve never seen before. dancing all night long

  6. they are always era's in which 1 nation is dominating. I don't think it makes much sense to compare the teams regarding throphies. Football was a different sport 60 or even 20 years ago. Some WOrld Cups were rigged as well. There are rumors about 1978 in Argentina and the World Cup in 1934 which was won by Italy was rigged as well.

A few stories from the 1934 World Cup

Referees were invited by Mussolini and recieved money to let italy win. In the game Italy vs. Austria the referee even cleared an Austrian corner by heading it out of danger. :D The goal that gave Italy the 1:0 win back then was funny as well. The Austrian goalie had the ball in his hand and the Italy players pushed/caried him with the ball into the goal...

Nevertheless this counts as 1 of Italy's 4 wins.

  7. Maybe Murray wants to give myers that 1 season.

Like: Ok dude... you are the #1 D-Men here is your chance prove us what you are worth.

This might be the last chance for the Sabres to do that. They will be bad this season again and they can easily see if Myers is still that unconsistent dude or if he answers the bell.
