Bryson is pretty fun to watch. In the same vein as my Hutton post, Skinner always seems to play a game that would be "ok" if you knew he just scored 2 last night, and assume that he'll score another sometime soon. But when you remember he hasn't scored in 5 years, his game suddenly looks pathetic

The worst players at their job on the team this and last year are Hutton and Skinner. For the duration of their Sabres careers, Hutton owns the honor by himself We have many other problems but adding a league average backup G, or even better, a no-BS 1G to play with Ullmark would be the single most impactful individual move we could possibly make

Hutton is the master of playing games in which you can't necessarily say any specific goal is 100% his fault, yet once again you need 6+ goals to win with him in haha

Small positive - getting obliterated by the Islanders, Flyers, Capitals etc. this season will be instant-bulletin board material for whoever is around to try and turn things around next year. Imagine a fresh new leaf, new coaching staff, new players, with just enough of the old ones around to tell them what it was like to be embarrassed night after night after night in a scheduling format that was conducive to things like this Islanders series happening. I have vague memories of Bruins players, at the beginning of their ascent in the late 2000s and early 2010s mention that it was nice to finally beat up on a sabres team that had spent a few years overshadowing them.

Controlling for the fact that the Sabres suck, the Islanders are very impressive.

I was just going to post something about them. I don't think they make much of a difference on the overall season, but no lines on this team are capable of doing what they could do, and I think that kind of game would have helped against teams like the Islanders. They could drain the energy of any line they played, and give the Sabres a bit of confidence and more optimal circumstances to start each shift with. And they made Okposo a lot more useful than he is with two PK specialist speedsters that don't do much of anything else

Man, the focus on point shots when a defender is missing their sticks is dumb. you have new lanes opening, don't take shots that get deflected out of play 15 times for every time they go in!

If you gave the Islanders roster to Krueger, and the Sabres roster to Trotz, what does each team look like 1 year from today? I genuinely have no idea and would be curious to see it. I don't think anyone can convince me they know

This team lost their captain 1C for nothing a couple summers ago. Their front office has something right about it.

Olofsson was in a funky spot there, but it's painful to have possession that close to the net and have the only remotely safe move being a pass back for a wide point shot. We love our point shots

Yep - that definitely takes away reserves from whatever mental and emotional reservoir might cause a different islander player to fight someone at a different time for a different reason
