I think what LastPommerFan is saying is that the DOPS didn't want to deal with the possibility of the NHLPA appealing the suspension, and that's why they gave him they gave him fewer than 6 games. I agree that that probably factored into their thinking. If there were no appeals process in the new CBA, I bet they would've given him more.
