  1. Gonna get more personal than I like to online, but this one is eating at me.

About 10 years ago Dad had a pretty aggressive melanoma removed from his chest.  It wasn't a small deal.  it had started to spread.  Dad is/was a chronic sunburner.  We are of northern European lineage, and accordingly light skinned.  I've had my share of sunburns too.  So..... around mid July something popped up on the back of the base of my neck.  Didn't think much of it at the time.  I did manage to scratch it open at one point.  But when it "healed" it healed funny.  Kept it on watch for a couple weeks.  Last week I called my doctor to get it looked at.  Saw him on Monday.  He said it may be nothing, but being there for 2 months now it needs to get evaluated.  So..... calling dermatologist offices to get this thing biopsied.  the absolute earliest appointment I could get in the entire Buffalo AND Rochester areas is November 30.  2 more frigging months.   The place nearest me can't see me until JANUARY!  I have told every person that I spoke with that this is a cancer evaluation, not a cosmetic issue.  Best I can get is put on a waiting list if people cancel their appointments.

You gotta be kidding me.  Needless to say, there is a good bit of worry at the Weave house until this thing gets looked at.  We both know how quickly skin cancer moves.  it's difficult to not get dramatic about this.

Is this health care in America now?  ###### this.

    Hope its all good man!

  2. With the Franson move, I'd say last year is officially irrelevant in Buffalo.

Since February we have turned over the coach, plus 13 players — more than half our roster:

    Nolan — Bylsma

    Stewart — Kane

    Stafford — O'Reilly

    Mitchell — Eichel

    Flynn — Larsson

    Hodgson — Reinhart

    Kaleta — McGinn

    Ellis — Legwand

    Myers — Bogosian

    Meszaros — Franson

    Zadorov — Pysyk

    Benoit — Colaiacovo

    Enroth — Lehner

    Neuvirth — Johnson

I can't recall that significant a turnover for the Sabres — ever — and most of those are clear upgrades.

Who knows if he will be successful or not, but thank God for Tim Murray.

I'm officially excited about this team again.

Time to get this season underway.

I'm printing this post and putting it on my fridge! It can make me happy every morning!  B-)

  3. Here's what I know. When I throw  a football and it arches back down to earth, its making the same motion the moon is. The moon was "thrown out" from Earth, or was flying by or something, and has momentum but the gravity of the earth is also pulling it in, so its own momentum combines with earth's gravity to keep in going round and round.

Edit: Oh ya, my football and the moon are also pulling on the earth, just like Newton's apple was pulling the earth towards it, too.

  4. I just finished a book on the Eisenhower presidency. Good book, interesting, cold war stuff and McCarthy and all that, but the one thing that really just jumped out at me was how cigarettes were killing Ike's generation. He had a heart attack and stroke while President--he had been a heavy smoker--his best friend had a lung taken out and died shortly after and other he knew were the same way.

  5. Not disagreeing, but it's funny that last year the blueline was the area of least concern.

We've basically traded Zadorov, Strachan and Benoit for Pysyk, Colaiacovo and Donovan, so it's not like its been gutted.

I didn't think that at all. The defense was THE problem, IMO

  6. I had a great session last night at the Harbor Center. The teams were so lopsided that the other goalie was practically asleep in the net and I got shelled for quite a few goals. But I loved every minute of it. It was the workout I needed and there's nothing more fun than making an acrobatic save on a breakaway or a two-on-none and hearing the other players go "OHHH".

I've never played goal and can't ever see me doing it. You guys are nuts! Lol

  7. Every voter but one sees him as a franchise defence man.

Which, by default would make him the best Sabre defence man ever, since we have never had a franchise defence man.

I never thought of that before! I don't think Risto will be Duncan Keith of Tamp's Hedman, but still a very good player
