I assume the islanders still play the choke everything off and try to win 1-0 game so if they dictate play it'll be BORING.

PP is key against teams like this. Maybe they can have an opening night stinker like we had.

I think it's critical we take the lead. 2-0 would be nice then they have to open up to score. Then we exploit that.

I'm picking the Sabres to do just that and be up then get a late one to win 4-1.

No one's ever the "last piece" as top contenders juggle rosters every year. Even cup winners. Nothing is ever absolute, but Pesce added solidifies a D balanced with youth and experience, defensive and offensive ability and is certainly going to be good enough to contend.

But he doesn't want to be here so forget it.

I didn't mean it in the sense of never shuffling,  but more in this is the complete roster.  The money is finally spent and here's what we're looking at trying to contend with.

  3. You'd essentially be setting the roster for many years with a move for Pesce and an extension.   Not that I'm against it.  To me the question would be, is he the last piece coupled with internal development, enough or what you'd want to be a cup contender?  He'd likely be the last significant piece you could add at that point.

  4. He picked the right coach.  He was right about the young prospects needing to play to develop and they have.  He's turned the team into a respected NHL offense.  He likely won the Risto, Rhino and Eichel trades.  He stock piled picks and rebuilt the cabinet with legitimate prospects.   We've grown every year in pts.

He's attempting to take care of the defense and specials.  The majority of our core, likely hasn't reached their peak.

I would guess that more than half of us didn't think Ullmark was the answer.  He believes the answer is Levi.

Despite all these excellent things he's done,  we're just regurgitating the no playoff appearances and goaltending unsolved narrative.   IMO, he's earned the benefit of the doubt to at least see how this season goes with the defense and goaltending.  After all,  he's been right more than he's been wrong.

Wow. This harkens back to the "Multiple Stanley Cups" speech.

I think you need to slow your roll with the whole "sustained success" stuff. Can we at least wait until we get some,… any success, before we start anointing them? I only need for them to make it to A playoff appearance (yes, that's how low my threshold is) in order for me to be excited.

We'll all just have to wait to find out if a single thing you wrote is actually true.

At least we all, seemingly, have a reason to be optimistic.

Just because you're not excited doesn't preclude another fan feeling we're in a good position for sustainable success.

Not making the playoffs yet also doesn't define there hasn't been success.

It's actually amazing to me that after all we've been through,  some fans can't see or maybe enjoy denying the fantastic position this team is in.

Does it leave much room for discussion if any disagreement with something the GM has done is deemed as the poster being “mad”? If the idea is KA has laid out what he’s going to do, so any disagreement is pointless, I’d wager that’s a pretty big block on healthy debate

I think there's a massive gap between any disagreement and being mad. There's posters that are upset and want KA either fired or on the hot seat.  So yes, I think there's plenty in-between for discussion and that happens frequently.

I think the vitriol is completely unnecessary and boring.
