Wow! 22 page thread for one topic. Haven't seen that here in a while. Portends great days to come for the team and supporters, I hope!

If I download the Audacy app just for this will it actually work or will it bring me to some national sports show? The app is nothing but trash
Adams and Ruff will meet the media Tuesday at 1 p.m. The press conference will be carried live on the Sabres' Facebook, X, and YouTube channels

I was wondering what happened to Randall Flagg. I enjoyed his insights.

Some would call this being accountable. 🤷
Some would call player interviews in the locker room after losses, with the respective player commenting, "I(we). have to do better" (all season long), being accountable.

What is he suppose to do, put all the blame on the players and coaches and take no responsibility himself. Good leaders share in the blame and take responsibility. 🙄
What is he supposed to do? If the buck stops with him, as he claims, then the honorable thing is to resign. He essentially gave"responsibility" lip service and you apparently bought it.

Why? You want Terry Pegula hiring the next head coach? Kevyn Adams is one of the few that did the right thing today and told it like it is in a press conference. It was the first time I have heard honesty out of the Buffalo Sabres organization since Lindy Ruff 14 years ago. So no I wouldn’t fire Kevyn Adams in my opinion. Go Sabres! Let’s Go Buffalo
Please! Most posters on this forum were pointing out the shortcomings Adams noted in his presser about this roster and coaching staff since early in the season. He said playoffs were the expectation at the beginning. He wasted a year!

Why hasn’t Kevin Adam’s been fired???
It's a legitimate question. In his presser, he was emphatic that this debacle of a season was on him.

As I listened, I thought about Lindy a few times. His comments took me there.
The fact that he is not necessarily waiting for the playoffs to end says the exhaustive search will be semi exhaustive.
That's not good enough.

I fully agree. He has failed the organization time and again. He didn't shore up the goalies for years. Still hasn't fixed the D group. Didn't make any substantive changes when the offense fell apart early in the season and for reasons only know to him and G-d, Matt Ellis still has a job. Enough!
His firing of DG today and this vehement press conference doesn't even begin to change the lack of accountability in this organization under his leadership. Why weren't any of these issues vocalized and changed in season when there was still a chance to make the playoffs?
Frankly, this whole friggin mess is on him. He should be fired as well for gross incompetence.
Seppuku for Adams!

I don't Kevin to make me feel better with rhetoric or sacrificial lambs.
I have three questions I want answered:
1) One of the league's best offence's disappeared this season, apparently for 3 reasons: the power play was awful, the team could never get bodies and pucks to the net to score any greasy goals, and the team's 5 best goal scorers all regressed significantly.
Why did this happen and how are you going to fix it?
2) This team was absolutely terrible in the first period on hockey games.
Why did this happen and how are you going to fix it?
3) Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen was among the league's best goalies since Jan. 1. Beyond that, the team and its individual players did not post particularly good numbers in any particular part of the game.
What are you going to do to make sure the Sabres won't be so reliant on one man to be the difference between winning and losing?
i want to see a plan for addressing these issues and I will hold him responsible for its execution.
I think at the least, the first two questions speak directly to coaching. Accordingly, anything less than replacing Granato and his entire staff represents being in denial.

I can walk and chew gum at the same time. I can cheer for the Sabres and be happy when they win, while not losing sight on what put them in this position.
Sounds like walking on a treadmill.

Dahlin is arguably a top 5 defenseman.
Dahlin is not on the ice as much as Allen is in respective game. If you had 6 Dahlins on the team you could make that argument.

This is where those 3 unacceptable losses to Columbus and Anaheim twice killed us...we have no margin for error anymore.
This is where Adams should fall on his saber. He told everyone that playoffs were the expectation this season.

They make it to the finals, then Pegula extends Adams, Granato, and Ellis. Yeah, that's my dream.

Well, we're all very justified in being PO'd with this franchise, but I thought the presser was fine. If you were expecting him to say that his roster stinks and they need a major overhaul -- I don't think that's realistic. And what was realistic, and true IMHO, was his statement that if they are going to improve as a team, most of the improvement will need to be internal, by the guys who are already there.
I agree with @dudacek that KA sincerely believes in his plan and most of this roster, and that he is willing to take steps that he thinks will improve the team.
We're certainly entitled to be skeptical about him closing those deals, or that the deals will be effective. I may go into despair if they limp to the finish line and nevertheless bring back DG. Still, the Mitts-for-BB trade was a major move, which gives hope that KA will be willing to make a similar move at coach if he thinks it's justified.
But vent if you need to vent. KA and DG deserve every ounce of opprobrium they get here for this utter and complete poop sandwich of a season.
There is no accountability. Adams said at the beginning of the season that playoffs were the expectation. Rookie GM and rookie NHL HC. For Adams to even mention "more compete" at this point is beyond infuriating. They both need to be jettisoned, no excuses. This ownership sucks!

This trade has the Pegula stank all over it. Come on, Wegmans, make it happen so we can launch this front office into the Sun!

Great guy, but he should have been cut loose last year. His signing was just one more symptom of Adam's failure to do anything meaningful last offseason.
