  1. Does Ullmark's performance make them think twice about walking from Lehner?

I'm not advocating for it, I just wonder if they are now considering if they'd be better of with Lehner and a new face who will actually compete with him than with the current plan, which seems to be Ullmark and a really good mentoring backup.

I want to run from Lehner.

  2. You're right about Fasching. I thought the trade was horrible back then, but I was hoping Fasching would become a top forward in the NHL and salvage that trade. As it turns out the trade still looks terrible. Fasching looks like an AHL regular. Murray gambled too much on hope and not enough on reality. He really set this team back years.

Such as how he hoped Lehner's size would enable him to simply cover the net and compensate for his lack of quickness.

  3. A couple of things.

Will need to increase our point projections for Mittelstadt next season.

Mittelstadt looks like one hell of a NHL Player.

To echo True even though Nylander didn’t “deserve the call up”( I took a lot of ###### for saying he needs to be up on a top line for a few games) he elevated his game while up here and will probably be on the Opening Night Roster for the Sabres in October.

He does need to be on a top line for a while.  That's one of the big mistakes many NHL teams make.  They bring up on in a top prospect and bury him until he becomes frustrated and loses all confidence.  Never have understood that concept.

  4. Lehner absolutely needs a change of scenery, but it'd be surprising if that gets him to play to his potential. He flat out has shown no ability to hug the post w/ his reverse V-H. None whatsoever & due to that & some other flaws in his game, he will likely always give up that killer goa

Lehner needs more than a change of scenary.  He's slow, not very athletic, and over commits.  That won't change in another city.  If he's still here next season, we remain in trouble.

  5. The initial post said Larsson and Girgensons would be excellent trade bait.  For what?  They're both huge disappointments, especially the latter.  This roster needs major shock therapy.  I liked what I saw of Rodrigues last season.  He continues to progress and should be paired with decent offensive talent.  That rookie line has potential.  Don't ruin a prospect like Mittelstadt by treating him like a savior and putting too much pressure on him.  Let him develop at his own pace, even if it means having him start at Rochester next season.  The offense will slowly come around (they've scored the second fewest goals in the league so can't get much worse).  The defense, including goaltending, is another story.  It's basically offensive.  Hard to know where to start, aside from Gorges.  Lehner has to go (rhymes with slow).  He should have left with his mentor, Murray.  Botterill has a lot of work to do.  No kidding!

  6. Possibly looking good for the Sabres to have two firsts in 2019?

    From Craig Custance

Sharks GM Doug Wilson has been very happy with the fit of Evander Kane, acquired in a deadline deal from the Buffalo Sabres. Sabres fans should be happy to know that the Sharks appear very serious about keeping Kane in San Jose long term. He has five goals in 10 games to go with 10 points overall since being traded to the Sharks.

The second-round pick the Sabres received for Kane becomes a first-rounder if Kane signs an extension after this season. All indications point to that being a very real possibility.

“He’s done all the things we’ve asked him to do. For us, he fits for now and the future. He has the right ingredients. He’s the right age,” Wilson told The Athletic. “He’s 26 and plays the game a certain way. I have a lot of cap space. A lot of cap space. Do I have enough cap space to take care of our own guys and keep Evander and do some other things? I do.”

    Thanks
