I originally thought GMTM picked him up because he was Jack’s linemate. A familiarity thing. Once I saw him in Rochester I couldn’t believe he was undrafted. I think GMTM was a little better than he’s given credit for.
I always thought he wasn't given enough of a chance. Then there was the rumors about him and Kim Pegula calling her a bitch. He's probably right.

Could he be TM’s best non 1st rd pick up?
Not only a non 1st round pick, he wasn't drafted at all.

Sorry but.......
Billy Smith was a cheap shot dirtbag.
Could not stand the guy.
Perhaps, but he was an enforcer and a product of the times.
The first year BFLO had Lehner he reminded me of Billy Smith. Then they neutered him and then he went to rehab.

Almost midnight and it's 61 degrees at 3,000 feet. Average low for this time of year is 27.

Ullmark seems fine
I skipped the post-game so I could watch the Panthers game. Who announced this?

You honestly enjoyed watching the tank team? Different strokes for different folks indeed...
I didn't enjoy watching the team tank. I enjoyed watching them have heart when they had absolutely no talent. It was what got them through the finals under Nolan. Of course Hasek helped, but you can't admit Nolan made each team he coached the hardest working bunch.

That's what assistants are for.

Please NOOOOOO. In this case, the third time is NOT the charm!
He took two separate Sabres teams with no talent, one deep in the playoffs and the other entertaining to watch.
Housley has a team with talent and it's going nowhere. He is soft.

The Islanders really did well landing Trotz.
I would like to bring in a proven coach, a motivator type.
Like Ted Nolan?

Enroth's career numbers are worse than Hutton's, so yea, we probably do lose something. Wanting Hutton to play less is totally fine, but bringing up Enroth as some kind of alternative is comical.
Enroth spent most of his time on the worst team in the league. Hutton is spending his time this year that is on a playoff contender.
Hutton has 3 wins in his last 14 starts.
You do the math.

It wouldn't turn things around, but things are damn sure not going to get any better.
Bundt cake soft.

I'd love to see Okposo gone....but seriously who in the heck will take him....even for nothing in return? I don't see a GM stupid enough in this league to take that awful contract.
Nobody will take him. And the buyout penalty hurts too. The term is too long.
I have to give Tavarez credit, he made Okposo and Moulson look like stars when in actuality, they suck.
-
Did I mention Hutton only has 3 wins in his last 13 games and Ullmark only has 5 regulation losses in 19 games?
Trade Okposo and Hutton for a bag of pucks.

And Enroth isn't even in the league anymore. I know you loved him, but we'd gain nothing by making that swap.
We sure as hell didn't lose anything. Enroth set the NHL record for shootout stops. Lehner is leading the league in GAA and save percentage.
And we're putting all our pieces on a 33 year old goaltender who has never been a starter?
-
I didn't expect the Sabres to be a playoff team this year. But they had a 10 game win streak. They're about to become the 2nd team in NHL history to miss the playoffs with a 10 game win streak. Somebody needs to be held accountable, and Housley is first in line because he is softer than a bundt cake.

The time to get off the Enroth bandwagon was...about four years ago.
Not on the bandwagon. Just getting off the Hutton bandwagon and would like to have Enroth as a backup.
Hutton is in his 30's and never been a starter. We're starting to see why.

I liked Enroth. I thought he got a raw deal here. When he became the starter here, he had a good stretch that got the Sabres some points but they were told to tank so he got dealt, which left Neuvirth. Then Neuvirth got in a groove and got us more points and he was swiftly dealt. Jhonas might have been a good one but alas, we'll never know.
Teams like big goaltenders now. No matter how good he was, teams think he's too small.
Sabres fans complained about Lehner's inability to win shootout games. Enroth holds the NHL record with most consecutive shootout saves.
At this point, I'd take him over Hutton any day and let Ullmark be the starter.

Can somebody tell me why Hutton is still getting playing time?
What a waste he's become. He wants to be a starter...... I'm sure Enroth would accept being a backup. And he's do a better job than Hutton.

Because there is no room on the Ontario Reign's roster until Moulson moves on.
From what Moulson has been doing in the AHL, I'd take him in a heartbeat over Okposo.

I'm behind, just finishing up the 2nd. Why is Hutton still a starter?

Nolan? wtf? Now that would be going back to an outdated and outmoded system for sure. I mean I liked Ted back in his day. I enjoyed May and Barnaby and Ray and all that red black and white lunchbucket stuff but man, none of that is going to work in today's nhl.
Also think Quenville is over rated (he had a LOT of talent to work with) but if he doesn't go to Philly I suspect he ends up in a long term deal with Seattle.
As for the soft wimp part, they said that about him when he played too, but he still made it to the hall of fame. It's a new era my friend. Even Torts isn't a hard man any more. These rich players just quit on that stuff. Housley isn't going anywhere unless we fail to make progress next year.
It used to be about strategy and coordinating. It was when teams had two assistants to take care of that. Now they have four or five.
Nolan won the Jack Adams award initially. And he made the least talented team in the league look fun to watch in his second stint.
It seems to me today a head coach needs to be a cheerleader and not a teacher. Which is why I was a big fan of Spuddy. Everybody laughed at me for that until he took Vegas to the finals last year.
