So basically as long as the Sabres win against New Jersey they’ll still be alive come Thursday night against Ottawa no matter whatÂ
With the Panthers playing the Hurricanes and our possible ticket in If all goes well.

Put him out there for shootouts! He can't be worse than UPL right?Â
Lol, that last shootout did not go well for UPL.

I like what I've seen so far and think Granato and the Sabres are a very good fit for him IMO.

Ask you something, who on the team is playing consistent enough to help TAGE out of what is happening. Points are still coming from the LINE, much less. TUCH is missing. Name one player who is helping out perform TAGE to help him out game after game the last 5?
Tage needs Tuch back. Absolutely. I think Greenway benefits greatly working with Tage. I love the addition, but we need Tuch back.

This will say everything about this group after perhaps the most humiliating loss I’ve seen of this dark era.
It almost looked like a practice shooting session on Comrie playing dodge the puck.

Regardless of whether they make the playoffs, I really don't want to see them completely go to pieces mentally, fall off the table and quit on the rest of the season. Yes, they lost to a tougher team on the road on Tuesday and dropped a big, winnable game in the 3rd period. They can't respond to a loss like that by hiding under the bed and getting destroyed at home like they did vs Dallas.
I want to see them bear down at home and play hard and consistent.
Greenway played better then half the team vs Dallas IMO. Played hard and consistent for the most part. We need to see more of that from the whole team. Good move. Losing Tuch is like losing Pecca back in the day. Heart of the Sabres IMO.

Defensive play matters.
Amen to that P TÂ R, funny how much different the team looks with Dahlin vs without
We have seen flashes of great play from all 3 Goaltenders IMO. This team keeps coming together and showing growth.
In a series they could be tough to beat IMO.

KA has added Comrie, Lyubushkin, Yost, Stillman and recently Greenway. In a short period of time the lower half of the roster is being bulked and toughened up. None of the deals could be categorized as major deals, but collectively they were purposeful and solid deals that make this a more balanced roster.Â
Absolutely, great post!

Quick notes on the game:
My first star goes to Comrie. Especially in the first period he played strong.Â
Sameulsson played well. He's strong and efficient. That masks how well he played.Â
Power is a stud player. He's so positionally sound. He outmuscles players without thumping players he's engaged with. Because of that you don't notice him outmuscling players to get the puck back. You can see him getting more confident on offense.Â
Lyubushkin had an excellent game. He got a lot of ice time. He's solid.Â
The pass of the game was from Mitts on the back board to Hinostroza for a score.Â
Quinn is getting better and better. On his goal he made a subtle move to the middle to get off a clearer shot. He's going to be an ace goal scorer for us.Â
The GM has added Yost, Lybush, Stillman and recently Greenway. The roster is getting tougher and bigger.Â
This season the Sabres have beaten a lot of upper echelon teams. When we get good goaltending we can beat any team. Certainly not claiming that we are in the top tier yet but when the netminding is at a quality level this team is good.Â
Happy to see the youthful crowd enjoy a good home game win as I did.Â
We are going to be in the playoff hunt up to the end of the season. I'm not predicting that we will get in but I'm optimistic.Â
Â
o
This team has got some grit and not afraid to stand toe to toe with anyone.
Its hard to out work youth and talent.
Nice recap JohnC

Anytime someone gets knocked out they're going to put him in concussion protocol. He could clear them by tomorrow, but he's definitely going to be monitored.
 taking one for the team!
Ya gotta love it!

Most unworthy. I haven’t seen as bad a period of hockey as that third period in years. Wish I had a nickel for every poor decision. I won’t even mention their complete lack of poise, either. Just a terrible display.Â
Except for Toker.Â
Sabres have played hard with good results in the 1st two periods almost all season. Then run out of gas in the 3rd. As a coach what do you do when the hard play is getting the lead.Â

Wow, 45 saves, and the one goal goes off of a skate. Unreal

Ya, ties are another thing I'm in the minority on. Totally good with them in the regular season. Shootouts and winning/losing there-in always feels a bit cheaper to meÂ
I like shootouts because it gives players a chance to test their skills one on one vs the Goaltender. The win didn't feel cheap to me today, but after all the hard work through 3 periods I get where your coming from I suppose.Â
When you see a team win like we did today after skating so well its hard not to start feeling a little optimistic about the season.

Some quick observations. The Sabres have played 6 periods. The style of gritty play has been consistent in all of the periods.Â
Granato moving Thompson to center has worked. A really smart move that gave the gangly player more room to maneuver.Â
Eakon has been very solid. He went from a scorned player to a player who has played well. He is an effort player.
Skinner is playing like a committed two way player.Â
Bryson is coming on. When a young player plays well the near future looks much more upbeat.Â
In two games the Sabres got not only good goaltending but also clutch backstopping. When that happens you can keep up in most games.Â
I'm hoping the fans come back because the players are putting in the effort to win back their support.Â
