  1. To continue the "When to take a QB" conversation, lets try this. Using the drafts from 2005 to 2015, I'll list every QB taken. 3 ranks. **-hit, *-tweener/undecided, and nothing. Completely subjective, so tell me if I'm way off on someone. I'm setting Dalton as the bottom of the "hit" line.

    This was great, thanks

  2.

American Hockey League rules state players must be on the roster at 3 p.m. today in order to be eligible to be sent down from the NHL for the rest of the year. Buffalo sent Nelson and Baptiste to the Amerks. They are likely just paper transactions, meaning the duo should be around for practice Tuesday.

Mittelstadt could go because he's not coming from the NHL.

  3. So is it better for the Bills in particular, or any team in particular, to avoid a comp-pick-triggering signing?

Or is it better to avoid those because it means you don't diminish the slot at which your team is picking in later rounds? E.g., picking 81st instead of 82nd.

It's something to consider when signing a player. However I believe the value of comp picks has become overstated.

I assume this is a "generate roster competition" move for that rb2 slot?

The guaranteed money makes me think he's definitely on the roster for at least this year.

The team announced that they have agreed to terms with Chris Ivory on a two-year contract. The pact is worth $5.5 million in base salary, with $3.25 million guaranteed in the first year, and can be worth up to $6 million max, sources informed of the deal told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

  4. It was very unlike him.  Both he and Harrington completely crossed the line on Monday and Tuesday.

Wawrow and Graham went after Matthew Coller pretty good a couple years ago - and brought it back up recently. Granted Collar worked for an actual media outlet but bordered on 5th grade bullying.

  5. Posted by Brawndo in the trade thread, but relevant to this discussion:

    Corey Pronman Thoughts on O’Regan

Daniel O'Regan, C, Buffalo (from San Jose): The initial reaction to a 24-year-old small forward who has yet to establish himself as an NHL regular will likely be pessimism, but I still have time for O'Regan. He’s a very gifted playmaker who processes the game at a high-level and has good skill with the puck. He's an agile skater but doesn't have a great top gear, which isn't ideal at his size. He works but he'll never be confused for a grinder or a great defensive forward. It's a gamble on a player with talent who hasn't forced his way into a scoring minutes role yet but was dominant in the AHL last season as a rookie. He could easily flame out on the Sabres, but O'Regan also has the skills to be a middle-six forward if he clicks.

  6. Why? Because Buffalo? With our desperate need for scoring and LWs, he has a legit shot to make the team and play on Jack’s wing. He’s going to get a one year ELC no matter where he goes. Who else can offer him such an opportunity? I have him and Smith penciled in as two or our top 3 LWs to start next season.

    That is frightening

  7. I think they had the press conference scheduled like two weeks ago, and this development only came up in the last few days. Must have been easier to keep the original press conference and just say nothing than cancel the whole thing.

But how, how could they not have known the cap ramifications.

I'm willing to acknowledge that is potentially what happened, but come on.

  8. Woof. If that is anywhere near what the real story is that's a pretty bad P.R. look from our Buffalo Bills. I thought at first it was just a logistics holdup for cap considerations, but it may be more OSP-like than I originally thought.

I'm beginning to think that this is more the case. Schopp and Bulldog had a guest that stated if Wood waits until after June 1 to retire the Bills save around $2M on the 2018 cap.

So Wood keeps the bonus but does one last solid for the Bills and waits until June 1 to officially retire. Now why they had the event yesterday instead of waiting until June I'm not sure, but I'm going to withhold judgement until more comes out.
