I'm trying to decide which is more likely what Toney was thinking:

"Hey Creed, what are you doing back here with the receivers?"

    or

"Uhm, Von, do you mind?  You're blocking my view of the ball!"

A thought I had is maybe Toney lined up on the ball as it was spotted by the ref (the blue line) and then when the center set up maybe the center moved the ball back? At which point everyone else lined up? I dunno, trying to give Toney some benefit of the doubt.

This is true except for the eight ABC stations owned by Disney. If you’re a Spectrum customer in one of those markets and you watch ABC programming via Spectrum, the ABC programming is blacked out. Those eight ABC affiliates owned by Disney are among the largest TV markets in the country, including NYC, LA, Chicago, and Philly. Millions of viewers have been impacted.

I don't have cable and use an over the air antennae for ABC and local stations.

When Spectrum pulled ESPN off their lineup last week, I did not expect the stand-off to go as far as it has (today and beyond). Typically, Rochester is not considered local enough to get the local affiliate broadcast. I could be in trouble for MNF and the home opener.
Normally I would just go to the bar, but I have daddy duty that night. I might have to 🏴‍☠️, but it’s a lot less fun watching on an iPad.

According to this the game is being televised nationally on ABC:

    https://abc.com/news/insider/watch-nfl-monday-night-football-on-abc-the-abc-app-espn-see-schedule

It also states the game will also be on ESPN+ for week 1

  4. I cancelled my prior subscript and allowed the end date to pass.

I was offered to re-subscribe at $19.99 for one year - which I did. I then cancelled the subscript so it would not auto renew in 2024 - they then offered me a reduced price for the 2024 renewal ($24). Which I also accepted. So i got 24 months for $44 and I just have to remember to cancel the subscript prior to auto renewal in summer of 2025. Which is worth it in my opinion.

  5. Grosek for Gilmour, Dumont and a draft pick

I was in my early teensr, but my memory of this was that Grosek was very up and down and was an often criticized player. And they got DOUG GILMOUR!!! (from the milk commercials) and the top prospect from The Hockey News 98 season preview magazine!!! Insane

  6. 5. Maxim Strbak, RHD, SIOUX FALLS (USHL)

    April 13, 2005 | 6′ 1″ | 198 pounds

Tier: Middle of the lineup player

    Skating: NHL average
    Puck skills: Below NHL average
    Hockey sense: NHL average
    Compete: High-end

    Player comparable: Ben Chiarot

Background: Strbak hasn’t put up big offensive numbers in club play between the USHL and Finland’s junior league over the last two seasons. On the international stage he’s been leaned on though. Strbak played a major role on Slovakia’s world junior team, including a 22-minute performance against Canada in the quarterfinals that went to overtime. He was a leading player for Slovakia’s U18 team this season, which went to the semifinals at the worlds. Strbak was a top-four defenseman on the Slovakia team that won silver at the 2021 Hlinka Gretzky. He made Slovakia’s 2022 world junior team as a 16-year-old and was a big part of the club that got Slovakia promoted at the U18 level last spring. He is committed to Michigan State University.

Analysis: Strbak is a defense-first defenseman. He’s a tall, right shot who is mobile and makes a lot of stops due to his reach, feet, physicality and excellent compete level. He brings a strong effort every night, and coaches tend to lean on him in tough situations. I don’t see him as a legit scorer and puck-mover in the NHL, but he’s good enough with the puck, can skate pucks up, and can make enough plays to survive at higher levels. I think he will be a second or third pair defenseman in the NHL depending on the level of offense he brings.

  7. 4. Anton Wahlberg, C, MALMO JR. (SWEDEN-JR.)

    July 4, 2005 | 6′ 3″ | 192 pounds

Tier: Middle of the lineup player

    Skating: NHL average
    Puck skills: NHL average
    Hockey sense: Below NHL average
    Compete: Above NHL average

    Player comparable: Pierre Engvall

Background: Wahlberg was an all situations player for Malmo’s J20 team and a top-six forward for Sweden’s U18 team. He got called up to Malmo late in the season where he played a notable role, including in their relegation-round games.

Analysis: Wahlberg’s raw toolkit instantly stand out when you watch. He’s a 6-foot-3 forward who can move very well for his size and has legit offensive skills. The way he can pull pucks by opposing defensemen while moving at a fast pace looks like an NHL forward. He plays a direct style and with his frame plus speed can get to the net very well. I don’t think he’s overly physical, but he has some bite in him, gets to the net, and coaches tend to lean on him. Wahlberg’s biggest issue is a lack of vision and so-so decision making with the puck. Wahlberg played center in the J20 level but played wing with Sweden’s U18 team and in the SHL. If he can score just somewhat as a pro, with his size and speed he will have an NHL career as a middle six forward, whether down the middle or the wing, and I think he’s trending that way.

Don't give us that.  It's your obligation to save jobs by buying everything on the planet and you know it.

I subscribed for a couple of years when it started.  Some of the long-form stuff was quite good.  But there wasn't enough content to keep me interested, and the technical glitches (I had to put in my user name and password every time, which is a pain on a phone) put me off.  I hope it survives for the people who enjoy reading and writing it...

I had this issue in my browser as well, especially when clicking a link to a story from twitter or somewhere else. I figured out I had to click the "open in app" button - which is always logged in as me.

I think Sling TV on a Roku is better than both. I've heard that YTTV is great if you have kids, though. Not sure why.

I second this - I generally go without a live TV provider. But when there is something I would like to watch that I need it for (Bills game on ESPN or the NBA playoffs on TNT) I have signup for Sling for a month.

My renewal is up in August.  Went to cancel and it offered me 1 yr for $24. So I will hang around for another year.

I've been a subscriber since day one always re-upping with deals like this.

I love their NFL draft coverage.

I use their site to follow the Cleveland Guardians and the MLB in general. I also use their fantasy baseball info at draft time and throughout the season.

And I read their Bills and Sabres coverage with Buscaglia and Fairburn.

I also like Pronman's NHL prospects coverage.

I hope it sticks around and none of that is affected because I really enjoy The Athletic.

Coyotes GM Bill Armstrong went on record today and mentioned that the Ottawa first was the highest value pick that they felt they could get in return. What if Adams felt the same as many members of this board and did not want to give up his 2023 first and instead offered their 2024 first and two second round picks?

if I were Armstrong, I would take the Ottawa peck as it is most likely to be somewhere in the 20-16 range, compared to somewhere in the 20s for the Sabres pick  in 2024

Ottawa's '23 first would be more valuable than Buffalo's 2023 currently, right?

    Oof.

No thanks. The guy hasn't been a bust, but he has surely disappointed based on where he was drafted. He was my greatest hope for pressure on Burrow prior to that Cincy game. The fact that they have to pay him on that 5th year option is suboptimal.

Agreed, I think they've had some success bringing in mid-range/short term types. I would prefer Daquan Jones, Tim Settle, Jordan Phillips and one other of that type than sign Oliver to a bloated contract long term.

He was the guard on Villanova’s team that accidentally injured Bob Lanier in the east regional final of the 1970 NCAA tourney. Bona won that game and advanced to the final four, but without Lanier they had little chance. That knee injury probably cost Lanier being the number one pick in the draft, too.

My memory of him is as the Celtics coach in the early nineties. Mustache.
