I tuned in a little late and wasn’t immediately aware that they didn’t have Bedard in the lineup. As I watched, it steadily dawned on me: The Blackhawks look every bit the part of an AHL team. I mean woof.
There were times when Sabre players were carrying the puck and wound up looking like a star from the 80s Oilers. Several Blackhawk players were just pylons out there.
And yet, we managed to give up at least 5 premium scoring chances on breakaways and odd-man rushes.
UPL saved the Sabres butts last night, defense was every bit as suspect as always.

But that only works when you actually hire qualified coaches and GM’s who can, you know get hired outside of the Sabres organization. RFK, Ted Nolan, TM, LaFontaine, etc. Hire quality people and you don’t have worry about paying them to not coach.
But quality people have opinions. Terry doesn’t like opinions.

I’ve never been in the “he was a great player, so he must be a great coach” camp. In fact, I think the opposite is often the case.
Thus, I shouldn’t mind Matt Ellis being a coach. But I do. I do mind. A lot.
Matt Ellis shouldn’t be a coach, not even at pee-wee level.
