  1. That was definitely not the case here. I checked in once on most days - which seems reasonable in any case (just to see if anyone's been hurt, etc.). Making moves didn't occupy a whole lot of my time. I'm not arguing the point here - I get it. As I said above, I'm all in favor of limits. A keeper league would be great. It would keep me out of the draft, which I handle pathetically.
  2. There was a limit of 8. Agreed (and it is likely no one benefitted more than I did - I was really lucky). Also, at least in theory the way it worked could favor the sort of person who is ready to deal at 3:00 am. (I'm not saying this really mattered. But it could?) Worth pointing out: For a lot of fantasy players, lineup stocking is the "spirit" of it. There are unlimited moves and no waiver periods in many leagues. Set max # of weekly adds to 2? They were! Both GAA and SV% improve when your goalie posts a shutout. But I get the point here. How about faceoffs taken and faceoff %?
  3. Thanks! I was very lucky. Still: Voices in my head are chanting "3peat." After barely (and unbearably) weathering the Saturday night onslaught put on by nobody in the semis? That put me on notice. Thanks, nobody, for putting on the league.
  4. Which point represents Duke? Dotted lines at medians. Dashed line at Revenues = Expenses. 2011 semifinalists in red. Source: The Equity in College Athletics Cutting Tool http://ope.ed.gov/athletics/GetDownloadSelectedData.aspx [Edited for the record to hint (?) at the answer to the (mostly rhetorical) question above.]
  5. I guess I don't understand emoticons - I thought it might be a smirk. I have no complaints. I'd never heard of Colin Greening until last week. It's probably pretty cool to have a Sabre come through. (There I was relying on Sens, Bruins and Flyers.) I like Gerbe.
  6. Hardly. I hope you're taking this as intended- purely in jest. I wouldn't have even noticed if wjag hadn't posted that.
  7. Thanks nobody. Yes! Consider this my formal complaint to the commissioner! (Oooops. Too late.)
  8. Unbearables have got the hex on Vanek-Man. Plus, the always crucial edge with the playoff tie breaker. lol!
  9. Paying attention to players... is - at least in my judgment - more fun than getting Not at all!
  10. Oh I don't really care. But: It's not the first time you've been on somebody's case... Given all that (I'll stir it up a bit more - after all, you threw the first stone): Why wasn't it Calvin that was paying enough attention to pick Cleary off waivers a couple weeks ago?
  11. He's not sitting on the bench (a bench that I do touch). I picked him up just a little while ago, and I've played him. In fact, I played him last night instead of Hemsky, and got hit a -3 for doing it, while Hemsky scored. I did the opposite on Wednesday, and was similarly "rewarded." Call me an idiot - fine - but it's not fair to even indirectly imply I'm not paying attention.
  12. Yeah - I did too. If I lose points over 7 faceoffs and a powerplay assist - well at least I'll know who to blame. I also missed some trade opps. I'm not sure I would have bitten. (I'm also not sure I completely understand the interest in Mueller, who is on IR. But: When you guys start wanting someone, I start suspecting its in my interests to keep him!) Sorry about that - I was out of town since Sunday. I'll pay more attention now.
  13. For whatever reason, I felt completely out of synch during the draft. Like everyone (even autodraft!) but me was at least trying to make inspiring, clever choices. But, I'm happy to put them out there and see what happens.
  14. I priced out my team - which is lousy - and came to about a $74 million cap hit. Then I checked out the "Norris Division" and found the others run $60 - $64 million. I still think my team is lousy; Tom W will probably shut me out Week 1. To acknowledge my managerial talents, perhaps I can rename the team the "Rangers?"
  15. The Unbearables will tolerate another season. I'm looking forward to the match up vs. Vanek-Man. Settle some unfinished business? Will the regular season meeting be crucial, again?
  16. No complaints after seeing that. Thanks Mbossy.
  17. Too late! The offer we made was accepted by the seller, but then a few days later the seller's attorney objected to one of the terms of the offer. The realtor/agent had given us misleading information when we had asked specifically about those terms. Fortunately nothing really material was at stake and the deal is fine, but it ticked me off that a transaction that should have gone smoothly required us to get nervous, deal with our lawyer, etc. It wasn't necessary. You'd think after handling thousands of transactions this wouldn't be necessary. My wife (who hasn't gone through this before) said "It's like this is the first time they've ever done this. Nothing is standardized and anything different throws things into chaos." The other thing that ticks me off: The agent first blaming (and ridiculing) the seller's attorney. That's not the agent's business nor place. Then saying "Well, what do you care? You got a really great rate." As if that covers for the rest? I was lucky - but that does not absolve the other clowns involved in this. On the plus side: We have another house to sell (now) - and this realtor will not be listing it.
  18. No. I'm not an economist (nor did I sleep at a Holiday Inn last night), but my understanding is that the Fed rate is for short-term cash loans made to businesses. While short and long term rates tend to go in lockstep, the relationship is loose, and exceptions are fairly common. This is probably the proper analysis. The mortgage market fluctuates on concerns about the long term ability of buyers to pay. I can't complain about the rate I locked in 3 weeks ago (local, small town bank). But I will complain about realtors. Do they all do just about anything possible (including lying) to get you to buy their listings?
