  1. It was probably 30% Sabre fans for game on a Saturday a few weeks ago...expecting more like 50-50 for a Wednesday night game with probably 11k in the stands, maybe less with the Devils struggling as bad as Buffalo. Let's go Sabres! See you there!
  2. I don't know if it was as much weak as it was not-smart....use yoru glove and throw it out...tough for me to bust on the guy though, he has been about the best player on the team....not that, that is saying much. question to you guys in here tonight; outside of Roy, is there anyone on this team that is at least playing consistent and/or decent? I don't know if I have seen enough games in entirety, or maybe I have, and nobody sticks out? Leopold? Really, I can't think of anyone else?!?
  3. Not sure how many others caught Coach's Corner tonight, but even if you hate Don Cherry (I personally like him a lot) you have to respect how much he loves his country and how much time he dedicates to acknowledging those that have made the ultimate sacrifice - police, fire, and of course armed servies. He dedicated his entire segment tonight to Canadians in past and current wars in the name of the upcoming Canadian holiday (Rememberance Day I believe...)
  4. Man, I would love to add something that hasn't already been said, but this team is certainly bi-polar. Great showing by the Sabre fans tonight, and backup goalie or not, the team played a solid game tonight. I hope we can keep it up. There is nothing better than watching how pissed off the few Devils fans getting with all the Sabre fans tonight....the "we want 7" chant broke out several times in the third. But, tonight doesn't mean anything unless we follow it up with another solid outing.
  5. i'm there as well - dining in Ironbound and then off the arena that will be at least 1/3 Sabre fans.....and let me tell ya, i am at a crossroads. i am bringing my 2 year-old son outfitted with this Buffalo 3rd jersey and I am really starting to wonder if I want to do this to this kid - between the Bills and the Sabres!! I just keep telling myself, that because we have gone through, that we are going to enjoy the day they win it all more than any team or city ever has!! By the way, I am an eternal optimist, if you couldn't tell!
  6. Like you Dudley, I was out tonight as well, but I surely expected a W tonight over OTT at home.... I just don't get this, but I totally understand why you wrote it. How, at this point of the season and 0 home wins, can the emotion NOT be there? How? I just can't understand it after a strong game the other night that it doesn't carry in to tonight. Man, I would take Lindy over just about any coach, and I think he deserves so much better based solely on the way he played the game, but is this really what we have come to? And who is going to come in here and whip Connolly, Stafford, etc, in to shape anyway?
  7. i was thinking the same thing.....i figure the majority of the people in here don't wnat to hear it, but the Regier/Quinn/Ruff hatred that has started two weeks' in to this season seems too much a "Bills fan that thought the Sabres were gonna make them better about themselves." If the W's and L's stay like this a month from now then go ahead, but let the season at least get to be a month old...anyone think the Devils are a 1-4 team too?
  8. i love it and i really like paetsch. any guy that takes a shot in the head from a guy like chara is a winner in my book... but, this is just one game against a team who seemingly is starting to write off the season. good start and now lets string a few together...
  9. has anyone else been waiting for this type of prediction since, like November? i keep waiting for these guys to come out pissed off, putting d-men through the backboards on the forecheck, and skating like we haven't seen since weeks 1-4... honestly, at this point i don't know what to expect, but you can't ask for the table to be set any better that is for sure...
  10. it's a weak goal and i understand your post PA, but i just don't think he the problem worth concentrating on right now.
  11. luckily it is just a hockey game and posts like this not only make me laugh, but realize there are more important things in life than a group of millionaires that forgot what it was like to work hard. oh, and memo to out-of-town broadcasters, it is almost time to stop considering these good wins for your team. no offense to the jackets or isles announcers, but you didn't beat the best team in the conference, that title belongs to teams like the devils and sens..you didn't beat the team that wore buffalo jerseys the first 25 games.. god i hate those jerseys....
  12. i'm with you man. and i tell you what, i can handle losses when your team plays hard, but this BS of losing leads in the 3rd period? how long has lydman been in the league? he was barely getting pressure, but maybe he just didn't want to take the hit, and he softly clears the puck up the boards right to an islander? and when we need to bear down and tie it, the islanders actually end up looking like the team that needs the game-tying goal not us - and they get one. spacek with another atrocious lazy penalty. soft and weak. as i said last night, this is no longer a slump, this is is a problem.
  13. you can only sit so many guys.......rather than sitting some guys maybe this is the way to go. and i love the game these guys bring, and i almost hate admitting it, but this might be the sort of thing we need. columbus had a line like this last night (the only name i recognized was the former ranger molhotra) and they brought intensity, defensive pressure, and a buzz to the building every time they were out there (sounded like the Hansens from slapshot)......and they didn't take dumb penalties while trying to do it, and that would be the key to re-uniting a line like this...
  14. we just let the 13th ranked opponent in the west come from behind against us in the 3rd. makes me puke. worst part is, i don't even know where to start, or how it gets better. peters might not win fights, and ultimately proves not a lick out there, but at least he brings some energy. add goose to that, otherwise, there just seems to be guys along for the ride. i don't remember pominville's name tonight. i saw roy get knocked down a few times and spend more time looking for the call, than getting back in the play. i don't know....
  15. well, i think i've managed to hold out hope for a while, but i think i'm starting to come to grips with the fact that buffalo is just not quite as great as i thought. this is a good team and they are entertaining, but they are not yet great. i'm not jumping off the cliff b/c of one game, etc, but after a one-week break, the best teams are supposed to take it to a bottom-feeder with half of arena filled with their own fans. forget the power rankings, the 10-0 start, and all the press, right now we are not the best team in the East, let alone the NHL... it's not pessimisim, it is just a plain fact. and until they start playing more physical and with a little more sweat and balls, it is going to be like this a lot in the 2nd half...
  16. i like the chances tonight..playing a team that hasn't seen us that much, which i think has become the probme playing NE opponents - they've seen us enough and they know what to expect. on a broadcast note to those watching Center Ice, does it amaze you how obnoxious the other broadcast teams can be? FSNOhio opened up tonight with "Buffalo and all-star MVP Briere versus Columbus and should have been MVP Rick Nash.." They also did something though very cool where they showed Kangaroo's lockerroom speech to the team before the game...kinda surprising to me that he would let them it. it wasn't just rah-rah BS, but tactical and match-up information.
  17. i'm very curious about this hockey game. The 'nucks have been playing pretty well, including w's over NE opponents (MONT and OTT). This is also their 2nd game in 2 nights in the midst of a cross-country roadtrip, so will they have an 'excuse' if they don't play well, like we've seen creep in to the sabre boxscore a few times over the last month.
  18. i'm at work - can we listen to the games anywhere on the net?
  19. thank god we are in the league for jeff o'neils cause b/c without the sabres i don't think he would have any goals this year. what is he 50? thatta boy petey, but mabye wade belak had a point last saturday...
  20. some raw emotion...i'ld rather see these guys lose hockey games playing as hard as they just did these opening minutes, than see them "walk" through a win. maybe not the best point, but beer is starting to kick in great first few shifts, and loved the emotion from drury on the goal.
  21. that's why it goes both ways darin. there were a couple of weak calls on buffalo, just as there were on toronto - if you thought that x-check on vanek was vicious you must not have played the game that far up the ranks. he got knocked down while sticking his noise around the crease. the biggest crime of this game is the 12,000 buffalo fans there that paid to see their hockey team play hockey, not watch a patch-work lineup outwork them.
  22. that was an awful call on the trip to kubina, but no worse than briere throwing himself in to the crease earlier in the game you guys have to start seeing it both ways - this game is not being officated in either teams' favor. i'm sure nobody noticed the quick hook that Hecht got away with about 20 seconds after the Kubina tripping call
  23. i love briere, but that penalty he just got mccabe to take is why people hate soccer. he dove. look, i will always fault the the guy who took the penalty b/c he puts himself in the situation to have the ref make a call, but that was not the kind of x-check that sends a guy sprawling. and i say that as someone who loves briere and wishes nothing but transmitted diseases to mccabe...
  24. i did not have time to read the previous 5 pages of posts but i just wanted to comment on two things from the game last night (and I only got to see the 3rd period): - who wears #2 for chicago? he was a D-man and he was flying out there. everytime he got the puck he turned it on. i noticed him all 3rd period - more importantly...icebunnies. after seeing the Isles and now the Blackhawks, i think we need them.
