  1. Resist the allure of online pricing and go try them in person. As mentioned, CCM and Graf are mostly wider than Bauer. I would personally start there. I wore CCM for 20+ years and only recently switched to Graf and I LOVE the Graf. I'm also on the ice 3-4/week between playing, reffing, and coaching. I also think it might be a good idea to look for a pair slightly used if you are not going to be on the ice often as the break-in period can be extremely difficult if you are jus beginning and not out there often. Whichever you decide upon, lace 'em at home while watching 'suffering' or whatever to get used to them.
  2. I played hockey from time I was 5 and up until a few years in college and saw the way the equipment has changed and essentially become armor. I honestly believe half these guys aren't hurt nearly as bad if it weren't for today's equipment. I.e.. I'm not excusing the elbow to Pville head but the result is much different he runs into an elbow pad made even 15-20 years ago
  3. Funny quotes and ironic..was out with family tonight and wife is passed out on couch and my three-year old son (in his alternate Buffalo third) is fast alsweep on my knee and I am just sitting here throwing back the Blue Lights...time to watch the late night CBC HNiC game. Good night fellas
  4. Man, I saw that one and just can't figure out how this league calls BS interference penalties, like the one that started this game, yet misses that X from behind. Couple other thoughts from tonight... Solid, solid road game, especially after playing last night. Even if they hadn't won, I was impressed with the effort. Retire those "Sens" jerseys...they really suck. Sens? That is the best they could do? Pominville had an AWFUL game in my mind. He looked lost out there and had to have at least 7-8 giveaways.' I really like our D right now and what they can become. I like what Weber brings to the table and I think that Sekera, although a little out of control sometimes, positives far outweight his negatives.
  5. I missed the boos? For a player or just in general at the end of the game? That's 1 goal in the last two home games...ouch. And again, I can't fault the effort in either game. Frustrating...
  6. i have a bad feeling how this game is going to turn out, but i am pretty happy with the effort and performance, especially considering the newbies in the lineup...
  7. If you read my initial question, I asked if it was actually the television production? I didn't even accuse the crowd of being quiet, it just sounds like it on my ######, non-HD Center Ice feed....that I get out here in New Jersey....as I can't get home to games often...oh, and I just back in to being on this message board this year and didn't have the time to go back through the previous two years' of crowd noise posts...
  8. Man to get that 'version' of Hecht back this year, would make a big difference. Still didn't seem that loud though, Eleven
  9. i'm cleaning my 3 year-old kid's playroom tonight while trying to watch this game and it seems like they have been on the PP the entire 3rd.
  10. Sorry, dude, I'll start the "I live 6 hours away and don't get to game often" thread next time to ask the question...oh, and I do go to Ranger games out here and they just seem louder, even on tee-vee. Sorry to rankle you.
  11. I'm sorry to bring this back to the crowd, but I haven't been to a Sabre game in a while...we just took the lead against one of the best teams in the West and it just doesn't sound loud....help me understand this!
  12. didn't they also sign a local kid to a minor league contract recently as well?
  13. I think I have to disagree with Lalime at number 1.....we have an all-world goalie that is going to start 90% of that time. You have to be realistic in the kind of back-up goalie you can get when he knows coming in he will get little playing time. At least in Lalime, you have a guy that the team is 150% behind...
  14. it just seems like he is doing things TO get cut...
  15. Agreed...I think he adds so many intangibles to the lineup
  16. The Arena still continues to sound dead to me...it is just tee-vee or what gives these days? Or is just the cavernous new buildings just don't make noise the way the old place did with those thingies hanging from the rafters?!?!
  17. i didn't think they play that awful in first as it was more Washington taking it to the Sabres and going down 2 men took some wind out of their sails - you do have to take something from a roadie against one of best teams in league.
  18. amazing how quick people are ready to give up on a game....now lookie lookie...
  19. I don't get the Sabre games on MSG here - I have to get Center Ice because the Rangers, Isles and Devils are on MSG
  20. Great fight the other night with Erskin of the Caps vs. Boulton: http://www.hockeyfights.com/fights/98765 Do we have anyone on our team that could do this if they had to?
  21. blacked out for me, but i think is b/c i am in the NYC area... just to reiterate earlier posts, if Sab's can pick up a point tonight, and/or play a solid road game, i will think we are back on track and believe they can make a run at playoffs still. anything else and the last week was a mirage. that is such a weak F'ing 2nd call when a team is already down one. it has to be short of murder or ruins a good scoring chance to make that 2nd penalty call
  22. that was one of the best 5 minutes of hockey i have seen in a while!!
  23. are you F'ing kidding me that the stripe from the blue line makes that boarding call while his partner is standing five feet away from the play? and didn't malhotra just hit a sabre player (probably McCormack) the same way about 15 seconds before that hit?
  24. Any preferred place Sabre fans going before hand? My party of three will be at Brick City Bar and Grill...
