solid game.. we let them come back but then we were able to score some more goals which is very good. 5 goals on a netminder is always a good thing esp missing alot of scorers and now Hecht. I thought Novotny played really well too. He had a few scoring chances and he made a few good plays to keep the puck in the zone with his body. Good Game..

That was a great goal by Novotny, especially if you look at that line of Novotny, Pominville and Roy 3 AHL players that just outworked the panthers and Luongo

so you disagree with me that it was a pretty good period and then you say it was impressive and smooth sailing... what did you disagree with?

sabres up 1-0 at the end of the first with the goal coming from Dumont. Pretty good period, it wasnt as boring as everyone thought it would be.

overall it seemed like a boring period. im glad the sabres could put one in though

We should post a link to the opposing teams message board on the game thread to see what they have to say about the game/sabres. I dunno about the Habs though I dont know enough french...

sabres goal Kotalik wrist shot 5-hole.. then there was a horrible fight between Peters and Boulton. they fought right off the draw and they waited atleast a minute before they touched each other. it was pretty funny to watch

yea that wasnt a great goal. eddie looked pretty angry after that soft goal. the game is on on msg now also

I really think that Pominville is going to step up and fill the scoring void when Connoly is out. Every game he looks better and he has a very strong offensive presence on the ice. Itd be interesting to put Max and Pominville together and see what they could do. Im looking for Pominville to score some big goals in the near future.

they havent said anything about Connolly but he walked off under his own power so I think he should be alright. Another thing about this game was that the sabres defense looked very good. We broke up a lot of passes in front of the net and we didnt give up too many quality scoring chances. No one defensemen stood out but it was a good defenseive game as a team.... solid win.

its good to see i little energy out of the Sabres at the end of the period. this game is still within reach if we can pick it up in the second... and if no more goals are kicked in.

wow.. Calgary just kicked the puck into the net and got credit for it. Marty signaled that it was kicked in immedietly after the goal and the officials dont even review it. what a horrible call especially when the goaltender makes a huge deal after the puck goes in the net. it is impossible to understand why they wouldnt even look at that shot. it wasnt even close to any stick when he kicked it in. wow..
