Funny. I don't notice that. Maybe I'm too distracted by the game itself.

i agree. stupid video games and rah rah crap ruins the atmosphere of a hard fought game.

Having attended the Sabres game in Tampa last month… can only tell you Tampa opened the gates an hour before the game… and the mood was driven by high energy Techno Music and light show… through the warm ups… ending with the introductions and anthems… Their announcer was youthful, excited, and had the crowd into it… Sound Board was plugged into the game and contributed like an extra man… Very impressive…

sounds horrible. but then again im old.

I'm not totally sure why, but I am not super interested in the offseason at all this year.  Just get me through it and get me to the games.

Maybe its because I like the 'team building' phase that you to through getting to the top.  I am having much more fun with Sabres talk, about the players, the direction of the team...than I am with the Bills.   It wasn't always that way but it is now.   Maybe its just because they finally have the QB, and while all the moves around him will matter...having the QB and just not MESSING UP BADLY the moves around him might be all you need, along with some luck.

Give me week 1, update me on the moves you made in the offseason once the games start.  I just can't get to 'hyped' up over every offseason move the Bills make until they are on the field.

The Bills D line gained some serious weight.Thats what I was hoping for and that came true. So the draft--afterthought.

    How are you defining soft?

He’s not scared of getting hit, or shy about dishing it out. He doesn’t back down when it comes to the extra-curriculars like scrums and stick work. He’s winning more board battles than he’s losing and is getting under peoples skins. These things arent measurable, but they are kinda hard to deny by anyone actually watching him play lately.

As far as measurable go, he leads the team in hits and is 2nd in both blocked shots and PIMs.

The only objective criteria by which he can be considered soft is fighting. because he doesn’t fight. Of course only 2 Sabres and maybe 50 NHLers do, so that’s not really much of a relevant stat these days.

very good post...I guess what I mean by 'soft' though is more mental. Superstars--which Dahlin isnt-dominate the competition. That takes mental toughness that would border on the obsessive (Bobby Clark) or the highly gifted(Perrault) or both  (Gretz). With Dahlin I see a guy who is def improving..And has 9 goals? 10 goals?-The season is almost over. Allstar ,not superstar. Not yet,and I dont think its a forgone conclusion.

So I should have been more specific re Soft.

This is completely awful. He’s the guy that hooked me on hockey at a young age. I got into the sport during the height of the Islander dynasty and to me he was the best player on the ice. That’s why I chose 22 for my beer league.

I know he doesn’t fit the bill for other peoples visions of an ideal hockey player, but for me, he was just a guy who went out there and scored goals like nobody’s business with a great name. This is just awful.

He was a marvel. Extraordinary. -I think one of the all time greats. Back problems shortened his career.

Tell me you haven’t been watching without saying you haven’t been watching 🤦🏼‍♂️

Dahlin is still soft. Not a superstar. I will believe it when I see it. is he an allstar? sure.of course.

Altho I cant think of the last superstar the sabres have had.    Briere?? borderline....Then we would have to go back to Hasek.

  6. I went to the first game at Rich Stadium.1973.

I had seen a lot in war memorial re: drunk maniacs.

But the crowd at Rich was  a frightening gathering of drunks from end zone to end zone.

I understand that the Bills fans--high % of them unemployed--needed an outlet for their rage..plus the enjoyment of seeing

the great OJ and the electric company do their thing.

Yeah I can't say for certain. Definitely doesn't help that big investment firms are buying single family homes to use as rentals now either.

people dont understand how true this statement is...-The big companies hide the notion well because they use hundreds of different names that sound folksy when they call you or email you wanting to buy your house.Sadly they offer you way under market for the houses.Only if your house is trashed could you possibly get a somewhat fair offer cuz they can fix the place up way cheaper than most of us can. So now there is a permanent housing shortage and a high price for rentals because people cant find houses very easily.
