  1. Marty kept them in that game during the Av's barrage at the end of the game. For a long period of time toward the end of the third, it seemed like we could not get the puck out and guys were standing around.

We weathered the storn and were able to come back to pick up two huge points on the road.

That win was not only great for the two points, it was great for a young team not playing on the road under adverse conditions and should only add confidence as the season progresses.

I don't disagree with you. But that doesn't change the fact that he was out of position and had no idea where the puck was with 30 seconds left in the game.

  2. I forgot to mention last night, we dodged a bullet with about 30 seconds left. The puck came behind the net and Biron moved to the other side, but the Avs kept the puck on the same side. They had a decent angle to score, about a foot of the net wide open, and Biron standing on the other side of the net with no clue where the puck was. Luckily they missed.

  3. Just one observation regarding last nights game and then I am moving on. Yes the Sabres were playing their third game in 4 nights, BUT, they are the hottest team in the NHL over the last couple of weeks, playing a team that hadn't won in 10 games. They are at home in front of a big Friday night crowd and yet got blanked 5-0. When you look at all things considered, this wasn't the game I expected the Sabres to get dominated. A close loss would have been much easier to stomach.

I do have one question though...Was Kalinin benched again? In a game where the defense was very suspect early on, I would think that Kalinin could have helped.

I thought I heard Rick and Jim say that Kalinin was injured, but I could be wrong.

So here's my thoughts on the game (I'm repeating some things that others have said)...I'm not worried because:

    1. That was their 5th game in 8 days, 3rd in 4 nights, 2nd in 2 nights.

    2. They looked exausted out there. While most of the team are young, and they are all pro athletes and should be in great shape, at this level even a little fatigue can translate to a big difference on the ice since San Jose was well rested.

    3. San Jose was fired up about the Thorton deal.

    4. It was only one game.

Now, here's why I am worried:

    1. They lost in front of a big crowd at home. Hopefully everyone there was smart enough to realize it was just one game.

    2. According to Rick and Jim they had to get on a plane this morning at 10 to fly out to Denver, so it's not like they are really getting to rest all that much.

    3. The team has been pretty streaky so far this year. They were riding a big winning streak, I hope that one bad loss doesn't turn everything around.

And just one other thought. Does it drive anyone else nuts when you're at the game and the team is on the Powerplay and the crowd is yelling "shoot it" to the guy with the puck, despite the fact there is someone clearly in the shooting lane, and the puck is not going to get anywhere close to the net? I can understand a little more if someone has a wide open shot...but the way people are at the game, I half expect them to yell it when someone has it behind the net! Ha, well now I can't even get away from that when I'm at home, because I could hear them on TV last night!

  4. FSN Pitt announcers...... BORING!! Holy S h it do they suck ass.

Biscut?? C'mon. And NICE Camera work fellas! Looks like a 5 yr old running the camera. Terrible.

    n

Thank god for Rick and Jim. Simply the best. :D

Yeah, terrible coverage all around. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed. My favorite of the night is when the color commentator was trying to figure out if a penalty had been called when the net got knocked off the moorings (I believe it went all the way to the back boards). Great attention to detail.

  5. 8 goals is a great thing. A trick for Pyatt (who would have predicted 3 goals all year, let alone in a game?), but it's a damn good thing they're playing the Crapitals, or they'd be losing bad.

Defense anyone ?? No? didn't think so. Goaltending anyone? no as well? guess not.

Back over .500 though, so that's a good thing. Trip to Boston coming up and they're still playing almost as poorly as the Sabres, so it SHOULD be a win.

    GO SABRES !!!!!!!

I forgot to quote this. I was trying to point out that they're not playing that poorly.
