  1. Going to the game tonight, and so excited. First game in over a month.

    1. Any news on who Lindy is starting in net tonight?

    2. Any news on how close the game is to being sold out? I've seen the ads in the paper the last few weeks, and it's pretty obvious the game isn't a sellout, but does anyone know how close they are?

I would imagine Miller would start because they have had a few days off, but anyone's guess is as good as mine.

  2. Guys, we're not going to win them all. I think some of us, and even myself at times, have gotten spoiled by how well the Sabres have been playing lately. Florida clearly has our number this year, but luckily, it doesn't look like they'd be a team that we'd run into during the playoffs.

The absence of Briere has hurt a bit, but a majority of this recent hot-streak was played without him.

Darcy needs to pull the trigger and trade Marty.... BUT, perhaps in return for a forward. I really feel we need a guy to step in and replace Briere and Dumont while they are gone. I'm sure St. Louis would dump one of their forwards in a trade, seeing as how they have nothing to play for. Maybe a Doug Weight? Scott Young?

The team has played well without Briere and Dumont, I think we need a defenseman more.

  3. Hopeless, I think that strategy can be effective next time they play Florida. I don't know that it would have helped in this game as there were very few Sabres that seemed to have the legs to outskate the D to the puck if they were to dump it in.

It seems that one team or the other parties waaaay too much on NYE (usually the Sabres) and the game tends to be dull like this one or a blow out like Anaheim in '99 (bad) or TO in '00 (good).

Even if they couldn't outskate the D to the puck. Get the puck deep and send 2 forecheckers. Put the pressure on and force them to make mistakes. I can think of one play where Max tried to skate it in, was double or triple teamed, and actually tried to skate it in before dumping it.

Maybe they didn't have the legs to do it that game, but let's hope they do next time, or some more teams are going to figure out how to beat us.

  4. The Sabres would have won if Marty played

    I just like starting trouble.

0-7 on the power play. This team needs to increase it's 5 on 5 production. On average they score two 5 on 5 goals a game.

Just another thought on that, since Miller's return:

    Miller: 4-1-0, GAA=1.58, SV%=.942

    Biron, 0-1-1, GAA=3.36, SV%=.879

But as for the game itself, I think they need to dump and chase more when they are having trouble gaining the blue line. I think if they started dumping it in, and sent 2 forecheckers, they would have forced Florida's defense to make mistakes and caused a lot more scoring chances. I am not a huge fan of dumping and chasing, but sometimes you have to do it.

  5. Plus, they were sitting in Buffalo last night while the Sabres played. Kind of like when San Jose lay in wait for the Sabres a few weeks ago and shut out our boys, 5-0.

Let's hope the loss last night fires them up for tonight. Hopefully Ruff is starting to learn his lesson about back to back games and puts Miller in.

  6. Sure, rub it in. I'll be sitting in a plane during that game. I hate that I have to miss one, but it does give me to opportunity to go to the next 3 home games, so I guess it's worth it.

What airline are you flying...I think one airline has XM...maybe you will luck out and be able to listen to the game.
