  1. My sleep cycle is so screwed up from my always-changing work schedule and stress right now that I'd kill to be asleep before 11 and up at a normal time. I'm all over the place - one night I'm wide awake till 4 and then moving around like a frigging zombie the next day, followed by falling asleep on the couch at 7 p.m. and waking up in the middle of the night, then getting to be and not waking up until 11 the next morning. :censored:

Try two trips from Japan to the US and back in the course of a month. My body is just confused as to what time it is.

  2. lol I can't tell the State Trooper recruiters that though...

Seriously. Fortunately I've been lucky enough that I haven't done anything to hurt my upper body this summer so I've been on a nice consistent roll with my workouts. *knock on wood*

I actually have a mountain bike that I've been riding for years. Unfortunately that was back when I lived in Lancaster. Here where I live in Rochester there are a lot more hills and this poor bike just isn't taking the abuse I'm dishing out with the more challenging rides. Plus I really need a slightly larger frame, a better seat, and some new rims and tires. And some bike shorts for the chafing. It's cheaper just to buy running shoes lol Maybe in the spring I'll be able to do some work on my bike, but until then I gotta stick with running. I'll just have to walk the next couple weeks instead until the cut heals.

I want to complain about you not being here more often. So there!

What kind of distance/times do you need to run? I have some workouts that can really help you knock some time off.

I guess I need to contribute with a complaint...I have found myself spending most of my summer in 2 very hot and humid locations. That is the worst possible place for running. I was back in Buffalo for a couple of days last week and I did a 5 mile run in less time than I did a 4 mile run yesterday (in Virginia). I am in a spot right now with some really nice running trails, but it's so hot that going further than 4 miles is just painful.

  3. Well, after this I don't want to hear the idiots on XM Home Ice babbling about how Brodeur should be starting ahead of Ryan. Marty doesn't have the trap in front of him tonight.

Amazing how human Marty looks without the trap huh? Marty sure showed why he should have been the starter tonight...

  4. Well, despite all the negativity, it was fun. Sure, there was no defense, some rink attendant timed the speed skating with Ruff's Breitling, and Miller looked surprisingly human on the shootout, but who cares! it was fun. I had an enjoyable 2 hours.

He picked the perfect time to look perfectly human. When it doesn't count!

  5. Yeah except they make such a big deal of "showcasing the game for new fans" and then crap like this happens ... if it was just for diehards like us I would agree, but they continually ignore what their current fans want in favor of these mysterious new fans, and this what they see ...

Eh, we missed Rafalski. So we really didn't miss anything.

  6. i have suffered like no one on this board i bet.

i ran college xc...and in 2002-04, (age 37-39) ran 1:16 in the half marathon 3 times, and ran marathons in 2:43, 2:46 and 2:48...not world class, but i trained hard to do it....averaged 105 miles a week for nine straight months from 2003-04. i know about fatigue.

when you know you're getting a 5 day break, if you want it bad enough, you can perform.

The point I was getting at is this. After you ran one of the races, could you have duplicated your time the next day?

  7. if these guys suck it up and play hard focused hockey for 60 minutes, they'll win by 3 goals.

Question for you. Do you work out frequently? I don't know about you, but if I really push myself in a run, and try the same run the next day I will be a little slower. Having a day of rest makes all the difference in the world. Especially at this level, a little thing like a day of rest can make a really big difference. Also, take into consideration last night was a really hard fought game, a late start, and if I remember correctly the longest game of the year for this team.

  8. I'm not expecting them to win because it's the 3rd game in 4 nights and on the road. If they get any points, I'll consider it gravy.

Very tough to play back to back especially after getting in so late last night. CBC said the Sabres did not get to Montreal until 2:30.

  9. More times than not, it seems that the road team playing the 2nd game in back to back nights comes out stronger than the rested home team. The home team gets thinking it should be an easy win with a tired team coming into town. Buffalo should be strong in the first, but may get winded later on in the game. Could this mean Peters will be dressed tonight.

If Peters dresses that shortens up the bench even more. Then you can't effectively roll 4 lines, which will fatigue the team even more. However with Novotny out it seems like Peters will probably dress.

  10. Montreal is a "puddle jump" from BFLO... I don't agree though, but they probably do it for the people on Vancouver Island (more so than mainland BC and the city of Vancouver) and people in the rest of the PT zone... At 8:00 the game starts there at 5:00... Just as people are getting off of work... Would be kind of funky to start the game at 4:00 PT???

All but 1 Friday night home game this year have an 8:00 faceoff. It doesn't matter how short of a flight Montreal is, the team still has to get to the airport, fly to Montreal and go from the airport to their hotel. An extra hour would probably be nice.

  11. Fantastic game tonight. Time to get out the worry beads though. This is NOT the type of game you want on back-to-back nights with a travel requirement as well. They have to be tired with all the effort exerted in the 3rd and OT to pull this one out. Having to go to Montreal after the game and play a rested team provides room for concern.

    KOTALIK saved VANEK bacon tonight...

Remember when the Sabres were feared for their short handed goals. Now we watch in fear as teams burn us at least once maybe twice every week shorthanded.

Back in the points lead. Anaheim lost to Calgary and Nashville was idle. Wow Anaheim was 2-6-2 in their last ten before they lost tonight. Do you think they miss Pronger and their goal tenders?

Kind of makes you wonder why they schedule an 8:00 game when they know they have to travel right after. Back to backs are tough enough as it is. That extra hour just makes it worse.
