Since Chicago views Kane, like Buffalo views Eichel or Dahlin ... Kane  leaving Chicago won’t happen unless it’s an overpayment and if he even wants to waive his NMC.

Every 8-10 months for the past 10+ years this whole Kane to Buffalo topic in different forms rears it’s ugly and unlikely head. Then phases out after 2-3 weeks. Then like clockwork ... another thread pops up eventually. Yawn.

Reminds me a lot of when some Bills fans bring up 'Lets bring Chad Kelly to the Bills because he is Jim's nephew' once a year annually

  2. Have to believe all the plans (schedule, divisions, etc) are in place to start the season when the league and NHLPA plans to, its all about the CBA negotiations etc and once and if that is resolved, the league and players will be notified right away and they can go forward with the season.

If I had to handicap this, I'd say it is 50/50 as of today.

I just can't watch these self-indulgent fests when they've done nothing to earn any sort of respect. Just seems like wrapping up sht in a pretty package.

Very fair point and there are times I definitely feel that too. I would rather see this then nothing at all.

Call me an optimist, but i just get a sense that Kevyn Adams has a good grip on the GM position

I'm not. I was speaking for Philadelphia specifically. I would bet most of those Asian kids meet the financial threshold I'm talking about. There is a large Asian contingent in figure skating as well and that's another wildly expensive sport.

Got you and I definitely got your original point. I'm glad to see the game branching out to other ethnics. To me its all about availability, affordability and if the game reaches to others either to play in person or on TV. The diversity aspect of things will naturally take a progression as that happens.

How can it be for everyone when everyone can't afford to play? There is one option for poor kids in the entire Philadelphia area to play hockey. One. Hockey players in this area are almost all suburban and white and there is a big streak of private school elitism in that mix as well.

Don't discredit Asians in some areas too. I went to the LA Kings practice facility which is close to LAX Airport twice and there were leagues there for kids and I was floored how many Asian kids are now playing hockey.

I don’t agree at all with this.

Matt Murray - a Stanley Cup winner - just went for the 52 pick in this draft. Lias Anderson - a more disappointing prospect than Casey selected one pick before him in 2017 - went for the 60th.

In this market, a 2nd round pick gets you a goalie, or a tarnished former top10 pick.

The big detail they left out was this:

Matt Murray - a Stanley Cup winner -Who will count 6.25M AAV against a hard salary cap,  just went for the 52 pick in this draft. Lias Anderson - a more disappointing prospect than Casey selected one pick before him in 2017 - went for the 60th, but costs virtually nothing against the salary cap

In this market, a 2nd round pick gets you a goalie, or a tarnished former top10 pick.

Bottom Line: the salary cap hit is dictating value almost as much as the actual player these days.
