Good to get the one point obviously after being down two on the road. But I was so excited to see Jack, Skinner and Dahlin to start the OT as I had seen they were working together in practice and Phil sends Risto out there. Not like it's a huge mistake but would love to see those three and look what happened.
Still pretty happy with the one point the way the game was played. Jackets outplayed us.

Well, for example, this is a 20 page thread and there was barely a mention of him at all, and he had a very good game including a great pass on the game winner.

Surprised that Dahlin doesn't get more kudos here. Maybe because he makes so many nifty passes look so easy, but he's tremendous. Even the little pass on the Okposo winner was terrific. He's unbelievable and he's just starting.

Pretty much every pass that Dahlin makes is right on the stick. That was almost better than the two goals, assist, defense, control of the puck and big hit.

Love Olofsson. Holy hell.
Dahlin is incredible.
Borgen, Tage and Asplund have all played well.
I would keep Olofsson around. Stick him on the fourth line and just have him play PP. Jeebus what a shot.
Really like Tage but it might be his experience advantage over a lot of kids. Pilut has some skills.

That's illogical. How are they making money off of the in-market streaming viewers? And even if they are, which is highly unlikely, they are not losing money by allowing out of towners, unless you count people being pissed at this like me.

On Sabres.com it says the game will be streamed on the site "in-market." Doesn't that imply only in WNY and general area and not everywhere? And if so, WTF?

Not really sure why he should be considered a Swedish defenseman. Sure, we know who his dad is but he was born in and lived his whole life in New Jersey. His mom is from Pittsburgh.

Two things that seem contradictory:
One, I agree that the term "generational talent" is overused, and that there should only be 1-2 players in twenty years that warrant that moniker. That criticism of overuse seems to be true.
Two: The last several drafts of the top defenseman, even Ekblad, Seth Jones, Ryan Murray, Hedman, Ekman-Larsson, Heiskanen, Makar, Joulevi, Hanifan, Adam Larsson, Gudbranson, Doughty, etc, which covers ten years, none of them were even close to the prospect that Dahlin is. Really not even in the same ballpark, and it really doesn't seem to be because writers or pundits or execs were throwing around undeserved superlatives about him.
He seems a cut above everyone, by a significant margin, that we have seen as a prospect.

Wawrow just told me that Botterill told him that if the Sharks miss the playoffs next year, the Sabres get the 2020 first rounder. That sounds definitive.

I keep seeing conflicting reports. Is the first rounder in 2019 lottery protected at all if he does indeed sign with Sharks, or no? And if it is, is it top three only protected?

That's not true at all. Especially here.No, it's pointed at me. And its BS. The reality is newer people on sports boards always get the ire if they don't post popular agreement and they often leave as a result. If they stick around over time they get accepted more as long time members start to understand their style and tone more. It's just the usual internet crap. I've seen that from both sides it's no big deal. I'm too old to give a toss either way.
As for "superior tone" I see that all over - especially from people who think their tone is superior enough to identify the superior tone of others. Being here for a long time doesn't make you dumber, doesn't make you smarter, it just makes you more accepted. Again, it's just the internet, a colossal waste of time.
I'd rather talk about the team but if anyone prefers to talk about tones and personalities and whatever enjoy yourselves I will ignore it for the most part. None of it matters.
While it may be true that new folks need to prove their mettle to established members before their opinions are accepted as legit takes by old timers, if anyone new comes here that no one knows and immediately shows they know hockey they will be instantly accepted by the core and senior members here. There isn't any elitism here at all as far as I can see. If you know hockey you're accepted immediately. If you're a dick or know it all you're seen and exposed as a dick or know it all immediately. And even if you're a disk if you prove to add substance to the board you will be accepted.
I'm not a hockey fan that knows the game like any of the top 100 guys here. But these bastards know the game and the team and aren't keeping newbies out of the community one bit. Post smart you're immediately accepted. Be a dick you're immediately ostracized.

Everyone knows this but it's still noteworthy to me that we finally get 40 shots a game. For a few weeks. It has to be a decade since we have been getting the number of shots like this.
