‘”The effort’s been there. Ryan has played very well here in the last few games, and we’ve also done a better job in front of him of trying to limit those high-quality scoring chances.”‘

Boyes, Gaustad flourishing after role reversal
‘”That line has been our best line,” coach Lindy Ruff said Friday. “It’s created the most chances. It’s given up the least. It had the best opportunities to score in the Ranger game. It won us the game in Montreal.”‘
Healthy defense corps has Sabres winning again
‘“It’s been great. We’ve been working hard to get familiar with playing with one another again,” Regehr said about the defense Friday inside the First Niagara Center. “It’s sure nice to be able to roll three pairs of defensemen. Guys are able to just keep their energy levels up a little higher. I think the blue line’s been solid. … It’s something to build on these last couple games.”’

Does Ruff still have faith in Roy?

Ruff said, “It comes with production. The production and the making the plays or the finishing of plays and last night I said it’s not good enough to miss the opportunity, those have to be put away. If you start being a difference maker, your key ice time goes up.”’

‘Tyler Ennis missed Thursday’s practice. Ruff said, “Tyler’s now has the flu bug that’s been going around. Going into the game he wasn’t doing well but got through the game.” Ruff assured us that his ankle has nothing to do with this, “I haven’t seen any indication that it’s bothering him at all. I think he’s really played well for us. His speed up front has been evident, he’s had real good tenacity, he’s been on the body and I think he’s done a heck of a job at center.”’
