Leino returns to Philly on first line

‘”We were doing pretty good when I was there,” he said. “There’s a lot of good memories. I’m sure it’s going to be really emotional and nice to see the people around the rink again.”‘

Hecht’s recovery is slow, encouraging

‘”I feel good,” Hecht said in his first meeting with reporters since being hurt. “I rode the bike the last couple days. Now I’m at that point where I can start working out again and pump the intensity up slowly.”‘

Sabres offense cause for alarm

‘Through 56 games, the Sabres have only 132 goals, a wretched 2.4 game, 26th in the NHL. The current 193-score pace would be three more than the franchise-low set in 2002-03 by arguably the worst edition of the Sabres ever.’

Moorestown native won’t play

‘“Looking back, at the time we really didn’t look at my neck,” he said. “Nowadays, with all of the head injuries and things, we’re starting to recognize that there are so many joints and muscles in the neck that can cause symptoms. People are so quick to say ‘concussion, concussion,’ but in reality it’s not always that. My head’s been fine this whole time.”’

Hecht Finally Has a Positive Outlook

‘”It was a tough day for me. I had a nervous breakdown, kind of, sitting there and a lot of thoughts going through my mind. It was just a rough day mentally. Now that I’m back with the team and back feeling better you see the upside and hope for the best and work at things to come back.”‘

Ville-delphia story

‘“It’s a lot of fun playing in Philly, whether you’re on the road or the home team. It’s going to be a lot of fun. It’s always nice to play in a loud building; it gets you ready. You don’t really have to push yourself too much.”’
