‘“I just tried to spin and get a lane for my stick for Kass to pass to,” Ennis explained Monday. “Kass passed it to me, nice pass. I wanted to bring it to my backhand and it kind of was on its edge. When I went to bring it, it lifted up. Then when it was in the air, I just tried to continue the motion. I saw an empty net. I kind of got excited, so I just tried to bat it in.”’

Trade deadline looms over Sabres
‘”It’s changed a lot over the years as far as the access to blogs, rumors, Twitter, television tickers on the bottom of the page,” said Leopold. “The whole thing has just evolved into a social media circus. You start reading all that stuff and start believing it, you never know.”‘
Gaustad’s stock rising as trade deadline approaches for Sabres
‘The 30-year-old met with Sabres general manager Darcy Regier on Saturday, a meeting he’s downplaying as being about the team and not his future. Clearly, Gaustad, a homegrown player in his seventh season, doesn’t want to leave. “I’ve always wanted to be a Sabre. I’ve always wanted to be in Buffalo,” Gaustad said. “I’ve come to grow up here. My adult life has been in Western New York. Winning here is one of my main goals in hockey.”’

Sabres Ruff has not lost hope
‘Ruff realizes where this team has been this year, but that doesn’t cloud his vision forward. “We’ve put ourselves in a situation where you’re going to lose some games that you probably deserve to win, but if you go back to Jersey where the four guys went back into the lineup and we went 5-0-1 then we lost a game I thought we could’ve been right there to win and you go on a little bit of a down turn. You come into Philly and play a great first period, then you play a terrible second and third, but I think we’ve been able to bounce back and right the ship again. So if you look at it, with strong goaltending and I think our power play needs to finish.”’
Sabres Ruff Maintains Hope
‘”I look at it that if we win a game we can close the gap to five points. I think we can put a run together… I told the team that before Pittsburgh that I still believe in you. That when we’ve been healthy and on the same page, we’ve been able to push ahead.”‘
