‘”We’re really going to have to grind through a session here where we’re down a lot of manpower,” coach Lindy Ruff said Thursday after a short Thanksgiving practice session. “Playing against a healthy team last night, a full lineup against six guys out, that effort was worthy of a win [during a 4-3 shootout loss to Boston]. We didn’t get it. We’re disappointed. But I’m just telling you, we play that way, play that hard, we’ll get the W’s.”‘

Former No. 1 draft pick gets the call
‘The 6-foot-3, 228-pound Kassian leads the Amerks with seven goals and 14 points in 18 games. He showed his potential last season with Windsor of the Ontario Hockey League, recording 26 goals and 77 points in 56 games.’
Scoring in NHL debut just part of special week for Sabres’ Brennan
‘It’s been a whirlwind week for the Brennan clan. The family – his father, mother, younger brother and three older sisters – had planned to join him in Rochester for Thanksgiving. Instead, when the Sabres summoned the 22-year-old Monday after Tyler Myers broke his wrist, they moved the meal to Buffalo. “It’s been a pretty high week, I guess I would say,” Brennan said. “It’s exciting.”’
Moorestown native scores in debut
‘“I thought Brennan’s performance,” was good,” Ruff said. “Scoring a goal, what a great thrill in your first game,” Ruff said. “I thought for the most part, he kept [his passing] on the simple side. He made a couple of nice plays to outlet our forwards.”’

Sabres Brennan gives early returns
‘Brennan played just over 13 minutes and was +1. With the way the day played out for the kid, it’s all a blur, “Royze made a good play off the wall and I thought I could sneak down and next thing I knew the puck was sitting there and before I could think about it I took a shot and next thing I knew the guys were grabbing my face, I think I blacked out there for a second.”’
Kassian called up by Buffalo
‘The right winger becomes the fourth Amerk to be called up in the last two weeks. Corey Tropp, TJ Brennan and Drew MacIntyre all seeing their first NHL action of the year; Tropp and Brennan both scoring their first career goals.’
Is Calling up Kassian the right move?
‘The consensus in Rochester is that Kassian is not ready. His skating and speed are not NHL caliber and neither was his physical play. But, after forward Patrick Kaleta went down, then Brad Boyes…ready or not, Kassian’s in.’
Kassian recalled from Amerks
‘Kassian (6’3”, 228 lbs., 1/24/91), who is playing in his rookie AHL season, has played 18 games for the Americans this season and leads the team with 14 points (7+7).’
