Fast start buoys Sabres to rare home win

‘“It’s great we finally got a win here,” said Enroth, who stopped 29 shots, improving to 3-0 this season. “Now everybody can stop talking about that we can’t win here. It’s really nice. We’re back on track now.”’

Sabres rookie Tropp replaces suspended Kaleta

‘“If he wasn’t suspended, I’d be driving myself to Binghamton, or if he was, I was coming to Buffalo,” Tropp said Friday prior to making his NHL debut in the Sabres’ 2-1 win over the Calgary Flames inside the First Niagara Center. “Obviously, when I got the call it was really exciting.”’

Sabres play with some fire to earn much-needed win

‘”It’s great,” said goaltender Jhonas Enroth, who made 29 saves to improve to 3-0. “We finally got a win here, and everybody can stop talking about we can’t win here. It’s really nice, and we’re back on track now.”‘

Tropp arrives at his preferred destination

‘”It’s a dream come true to play your first NHL hockey game,” Tropp said. “It’s something, especially the last few years, you work hard for. I’m pretty excited.”‘

Enroth has 29 saves in Sabres’ 2-1 win over Flames

‘The Sabres (7-5-0) were buoyed by their secret weapon Enroth, who improved to 12-3-2 in his career in his third start of the season. He had his scoreless string of 107:39 snapped when Calgary’s Alex Tanguay scored early in the third period.’

‘”It was maybe the best game I’ve seen him play,” Flames captain Jerome Iginla said about Karlsson. “Unfortunately we couldn’t get him the win.”‘

Enroth, Sabres Take Down Flames 2-1

‘Although the final score didn’t reflect it, the Sabres’ offense came to life on Friday night in a 2-1 win over the Flames. Drew Stafford and Nathan Gerbe found the net, providing two of the 44 shots on Calgary netminder Henrik Karlsson. Jhonas Enroth made 29 saves for the victory.’

Sabres extinguish the Flames

‘“I thought our puck movement and execution was probably our best game of the year when it comes to that,” said Sabres head coach Ruff. “Skating wise, excellent game and passing wise. I’ve said when the puck movement is good from our defensive forwards, we get a lot of things done.”’
