Sabres opt to use the backup plan

‘For the first time in nearly five years, Miller sat out back-to-back games while healthy. He hadn’t done so since Jan. 30-Feb. 1, 2007, when Ruff gave the goaltender extra rest upon returning from his start in the NHL All-Star Game.’

Sabres TV analyst gig means a lot to Gare

‘”It’s something I’ve always looked forward to,” Gare said. “I always enjoyed my time after I retired to come back and do broadcasting: did radio, did rink reporting, did intermission stuff. To do color is exciting for me, and I’m looking forward to the challenge, if you want to call it that.”‘

Win and you’re in

‘Enroth had given up just one goal on 45 shots in his last two games before Saturday night, so you could see how Ruff could play that hunch in a back-to-back situation.’
