'“I was very surprised,” Gragnani said of the recall. “[The Rochester coaching staff] told me I wasn’t playing but I didn’t know why… I felt bad obviously. [Randy Cunneyworth] said ‘do you know why? You’re going up,” Gragnani continued. I got Punk’d I guess.”'

‘Chris Drury spoke with the media after the morning skate and said he enjoyed seeing the banners representing last year’s Northeast Division title and the Presidents’ Trophy. Looking ahead to fan reaction to his return to Buffalo ice, Drury joked that “boo” sounds an awful lot like “Dru.”‘
‘“We want to play hockey,” Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller said. “We all think very highly of Chris. Great guy, great friend. But he’s standing in our way.”’
‘“Yes, there is [concern],” Ruff said briskly. “Yes, there is. But we’ll try to address that [this] morning. Yes, there is concern. In all of them. When they miss or they’re going for X-rays, you’re concerned with any of them. I won’t list any names right now, but we have concern.”’
'But over the past 18 games when he has been used almost exclusively on the wing, he has scored 4-14-18 and is a plus-8.'
‘But they’ve been mediocre since and have slid accordingly. Drury, who snubbed the Sabres for the chance to play in Madison Square Garden, hasn’t been the problem — he’s notched eight goals and a total of 12 points in his last 10 games. But like he did here, Drury has struggled with five-on-five hockey. His minus-9 is the worst among the regulars in New York’s lineup and it comes off a season where his plus-1 was among the worst for the Sabres.’
‘“We contacted the Sabres via e-mail and it took off,” Baumgartner said. “It came about very quickly because of the time frame they have to work with. They can’t commit to games during playoff times, so they only had a few days open.”’
‘”Whether I played there or didn’t play there, you’re wearing a different jersey in their building. I’m certainly not going to expect any pats on the back,” said Drury, who signed a five-year deal with the Rangers on July 1. “They’re passionate fans; they love their Sabers, love their Bills. They’re great fans, very loyal, so (I may get booed).”‘
