‘”I especially want to thank the nursing and medical staff at Buffalo General Hospital — they have been by my side every step of the way. Jessica (his wife) and I thank everyone for respecting our privacy and we both look forward to returning to Florida soon.”‘

Which core players are vital to the Sabres’ future?
‘Ryan Miller is the backbone of this franchise. His 2.38 GAA and .915 SV% are career bests. His stellar play this campaign kept the team out of the Eastern Conference basement. While a proven netminder during the regular season, Miller excels in the post season. He has 20 post season victories in his young career with a 2.40 GGA. Miller is an UFA after next season. Signing Miller this off-season to a long-term contract extension must be Regier’s top priority.’
Zednik wings it
'“He asked if he could eat chicken wings,” Dr. Sonya Noor said. “So we let him.”'
Kaleta sees the light
'“You’d like to think that he’ll inspire other local players to get hope, hold hope and maintain it,” Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier said. “I think only someone who grew up in this area and played local hockey can understand what it means. I would imagine it’s pretty special.”'

Why were the Sabres struggling earlier this season?
‘This team as currently constructed is good enough to make the playoff. If they continue to match the intensity they have shown over the last 10 games, they may even contend for a high seed, although the Northeast Division crown is likely out of reach. As we have seen in recent weeks, they can defeat anyone at anytime.’
