'"It's not like me to come out and talk about anyone like that,'' Woolley said. "It's something that's been boiling up in me for a long time. It's hard, I want to look out more for the (Sabres) players than I do anyone else."'
'The hapless, bottom-feeding Sabres proved to be the right tonic for other struggling Wings.'
'Woolley said their relationship became irreconcilable when Ruff removed the "A" from his jersey two years ago. 'Ruff's response: "Not a chance in hell. . . . He's not having a beer with me."'
'"They tried to hand the game back to us," Buffalo coach Lindy Ruff said. "I thought Joseph had to make probably five or six great saves or we get back in the ball game. Maybe at the end there that might have been the difference."'
'During training camp in September, Miller stored some of his luggage at Woolley's house in Buffalo. "We have a great relationship," Woolley said, "(but) I don't think he wants to hear from me tonight."'
'"You've got to compete on a daily basis. As a coach you listen to excuses, and Jason was a guy that needed 25 pair of skates. And it was never him, it was the equipment. His hips needed to be aligned. It was flying in a special doctor. We catered to his every need, or we tried to."'
