January 25, 1975

The Sabres win their fifth straight game without a hobbled Gilbert Perreault, beating the Canadiens in the Montreal Forum, 7-6.

 

January 25, 1977

In the NHL All Star Game in Vancouver, Rick Martin scores two goals, including the game-winner, and is named most valuable player.

 

January 25, 1995

In their home-opener, the Sabres defeat the Devils 2-1 at the Aud for their third straight win. A lockout by the owners delayed the start of the season.

 

January 25, 2003

In Ottawa, Daniel Alfredsson scores 46 seconds into the second period to snap Martin Biron's shutout streak at 221:58. Alfredsson scores again in overtime to beat the Sabres, 4-3, and end their seven-game unbeaten streak. Also on this day, the NHL gives Mark Hamister his fourth and final extension to complete a purchase of the Sabres. Let the record show that the Senators, like the Sabres, are also bankrupt.
