However, if picking a backup, and considering the salary difference, I would take Esche. This team needs salary cap space more than it needs Biron as a backup. In the offseason, I agree. Biron will leave, freeing up Cap space, and the Sabres can bring in candidates to 'audition' to take his place. Preparing for a Cup run though, they need Biron more than the space.
