December 18, 1975

Rick Martin scores his third hat trick of the season and 12th of his Sabre career in a 5-2 win over the Minnesota North Stars at the Aud. Martin is just getting warmed up.

 

December 18, 1990

Dave Andreychuk scores at 1:07 of overtime to beat the Whalers, 3-2, at the Hartford Civic Center.

 

December 18, 1998

Defenseman Rumun Ndur is lost on waivers to the New York Rangers, Donald Audette is traded to the L.A. Kings for a second-round draft choice and the Sabres defeat the Montreal Canadiens 4-2 at Marine Midland Arena. The Canadiens outshoot the Sabres 38-21, 17-5 in the third period, and deserve to win. "I'd hate to play like that every night," says Lindy Ruff. "I wouldn't have any bottom teeth left...I'd grind the crap out of them." The game is an ominous precursor of an extended slump.
