December 10, 1970

Backup goalie Joe Daley faces 72 shots at Boston Garden, stopping 64 of them in an 8-2 loss to the Bruins. Thirty of the shots come in the second period, a franchise record for most shots allowed in a period.

 

December 10, 1979

In Scotty Bowman's first season, Don Edwards needs to make only 14 saves to record his 10th shutout as a Sabre in a 4-0 win over Detroit at the Aud, Buffalo's eighth straight win.

 

December 10, 1985

Frustrated during a 7-3 loss at Quebec against the Nordiques, first-year coach Jim Schoenfeld throws a water bottle at referee Terry Gregson. After the game, Schoeny says, "It's too bad it wasn't a brick. Otherwise, I would have hit him in the head." The coach is fined five grand by the NHL.
