Players look at that thing and it's so abstract that what you end up seeing reveals something (probably negative) about your character. If you're too self-absorbed and concerned with your looks, you see a toupee. If you're slow, you see the slug. If you're immature, you see a Pokemon. If you pick your nose, you see a booger.
