But the Flyers lead the Eastern Conference semifinals three games to one. May 9, 1999 At the Fleet Center, the Sabres beat the Bruins 3-1 to tie the Eastern Conference semifinals at one game apiece. Mike Peca scores 1:51 into the game on a centering pass from Curtis Brown, and the Sabres extend their lead on a Brown power play goal in the second. After the Bruins cut the lead to 2-1 in the third, the Sabres hang on as Boston pulls its goalie late for a two man advantage. Dixon Ward, though, scores into the empty net in the final minute.
