May 6, 1975

In overtime at the Aud, Rene Robert scores from 40 feet out after Gilbert Perreault wins a faceoff to the left of Montreal goaltender Ken Dryden. The Sabres take a three games to two lead in the Stanley Cup semifinals and are just one win away from earning their first berth in the finals.

 

May 6, 1980

On Long Island, Gilbert Perreault has a hat trick and the Sabres beat the Islanders 7-4 to avoid getting swept out of the semifinal round.

 

May 6, 1993

The Canadiens' Gilbert Dionne wins Game 3 of the Adams Division finals at the Aud in overtime, 4-3. Montreal takes a three games to none lead in the series as things turn very bleak for Buffalo. They lose Pat LaFontaine to a knee injury and Alexander Mogilny to a broken leg.

 

May 6, 1999

The Bruins beat the Sabres 4-2 in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference semifinals in Boston.
